This guy is still my hero. His volleys were massive. His drive on the ball would scorch and thunder. In total, he was style. I still dream of his lobbing the keeper, his juggling down field, and yes, his kung-fu kick.

And finally, do you think Rooney can replace Cantona as the King of Old Trafford?I think it's possible. But I think one of the magical things about Cantona is he came in and we were winning like mad for a few years. So Rooney might become one of the all-time greats, but he won't have a run that matches Cantona in length and intensity -- alot of silverware in a little time. Hopefully the Roo will stay for alot longer and win alot more trophies. :D

Nonetheless, I love the moment when he scores and just stops and stares around at the crowd with no expression.

Also, Rooney may be a better player than Cantona in the end but I do not the he will surpass Cantona's greatness. By that I mean they are two different personalities of players. Cantona was just brilliance and while Rooney is brilliance too I dunno if he can push this team to the unparralled heights that Cantona did. But then again maybe he can, he definatelly has the talent, only time will tell.

Oh, it would be a disaster. We'd take a tremendous dip. But, oh lord, would it be fun. Seagulls, Gallic ire, all-out-attacking football, charisma-filled press conferences, and manic egotism. What joy!

One of three I would say, The nonchalant chip into the top left corner and his slow, barrel chested turn to milk the OT roar or his falling away volley on the edge of the area in the FA cup final against Liverpool that seemed to take an age to squirm its way through a sea of bodies (great for the scallies faces or his first goal back from his ban, for rightly kicking that Palace twat, where he ran and spiralled around the net support post for his goal celebration

Why type of animal would you compare him to?

Weird:confused: but if I had to pick one it would be a Golden Eagle, Noblest and most majestic of all birds, soars higher than the rest and also has the characteristic barrel chest, heavy brow and killer strike

And finally, do you think Rooney can replace Cantona as the King of Old Trafford?

Replace no... become the New, yes! As they say the King is dead, long live the king. Rooney has got years to prove his obvious and sublime talent.

Cantona was not only one of the greatest strikers of all time - he was without question one of the greatest football characters of all time. Keane's glowing descriptions of Cantona in his autobiography prove that. Despite his arrogance (which was well deserved and perfectly articulated), Cantona was known for being an exceedingly nice guy. Story:

A bet was made in the dressing room (can't remember the details), and a few of the players threw down thousands of pounds, including Scholes and Giggs (I believe it was them...anyway they put down half of their week's wages). Cantona ended up winning the pot. The following morning, he arrived at training with two checks, one for each of the younguns, dividing all of his winnings between them.
