Ecuador wins 1 to 0 against Honduras con gol de "la metralla" Caicedo.Fue un golazo de media chilena.This game also proved that Mina does not deserve to be in the NT,con todos los goles que se comio se puso mas gordo el hijo de tuta.It was a good result knowing that all of our "stars" were not playing and we were playing at sea level and not in the altura.This is a very good result due to the fact Honduras has the same playing style de Costa Rica.Our next friendly will be against Hollad,a Eurpoean power house.This game will see how well we would match up against Germany and Poland.Now that la tri will be going to Holland,there should be no excuse for Suarez to call up Jose Valencia Murrillo.To me that he is the last piece to the puzzle.

Las acciones en el primer tiempo fueron parejas, con situaciones de gol en ambas puertas, por lo que el choque se fue al descanso con un empate sin anotaciones.

Para el segundo tiempo el técnico Luis Fernando Suárez realizó algunas variantes, sobre todo para tratar de reforzar su bloque ofensivo, situación que al final le dio los frutos deseados, al conquistar la victoria.

El tanto del triunfo llegó por intermedio del delantero de Emelec, Darwin Caicedo, quien aprovechó una de las pocas oportunidades de gol que se le presentaron para vencer al meta del elenco centroamericano.

I've heard great things about Darwin Caicedo... I hope he can have more playing time and proove that he belongs on the NT... About Mina I heard he did ok in todays game...I will watch the game on Saturday and comment on him later... But in an area where we lack strikers that can score we need to play with what we have... Kaviedes needs to be called up for the next match to see what he can do...

What an interesting game this turned out to be. It is clear that we do depend upon our most experienced players to save the day. Reasco was just fascinating and I am so glad Suarez teamed up Guagua and Espinoza. I knew that combination would work well. Mendez and Reasco worked so well together and Marlon Ayovi played his part very well. Ambrossi was outstanding as well. He is very intelligent player. These guys have clearly demonstrated how to muster a hustle.

Seeing Castillo in action was admirable. He defiantly deserves a spot in Germany. Castillo is a perfect example of the team worked that I spoke of earlier. However, I was very disappointed with “jony” Baldeon. He let go many a good passes. I could not believe how he did not hustle enough and let go of many balls. It is how I said it, The NT plays a good game but the finishing is what we lack. Baldeon could not finish the job and neither did Roberto Mina although he did show a bit of an improvement playing with the NT. Roberto Mina was showing great determination, I’ll give him that much, but he he simply did not finish the job. Ezpinoza being the defender that he is attacked better than Mina.

Saritama was good but I need to hear what you guys thought of his game. I get mood swings with him.

Someone in this forum was sweating Darwin Caicedo, I don’t know who it was but it was a good call. Now there was an example of someone who can finish the job. What a spectacular goal!!! This guy was up front all the way and ther was no one ther to accompany him. Again, I was so disappointed with Baledeon’s game even though he made that lucky pass. Saritama and Baldeon together just did not do it for me.

Eric de Jesus looked a bit promising. Again, I need to see him with a more together team.

Last but not least, I can’t believe Lucho Caicedo played again!!! What the Hell does Suarez sees that others or I can’t see?

"La Metralla" is really playing well. The Winning goal against Barceconcha, and now the winning goal for the NT, he seems to have picked up some things playing in Hertha Berlin. I'm glad to finally see Suarez give a look at some of the Emelec players, I think he should give a chance to Paredes as well. He could be a surprise just watch out for him. And why not try Candelario too?, even though he is no longer 100% Emelecista anymore heh I won't hate ;)

As for Mina it's just a shame he is still young. He looks like he needs to lose some weight, there's no excuse for a professional athlete to be in that conditions but lets don't give up on him yet.

But to be fair, most people asking for seem to me emierdec, the rest of us knows he is just average.

Mina messed up a lot of good chances. It's a shame, but he seemed trying too hard. I hope he will get another chance, as he does have ability, just failed on that particular night.

Caicedo does deserve more chances too. That was a verdadero golazo! And it takes skill to score like that! He has what it takes, and the dude is only 21 years old. Time is on his side.

Saritama too did awesome, and could play a big role in Ecuador's attacking play. Just he needs to stop hesistating in the final play. But he does everything else right. He did do some nice defending and robbed the ball on more then one occasion.

Baldeon did enough to get more chances. His speed and off-ball movement created some problems for the other team. Just too bad his partner, Mina had an off day.

And I always thought Mora was more outstanding the Villafuerte and Suarez would be wise to use him instead.

He did show improvement but not to gain a spot in the NT. He is still horrilbe and he better not be in Germany.

Ladic raised a good point bout Metralla. I did not see the Poland game but I did hear that he was not all that.

I think It was viagoal who was giving Darwin Caiecedo props so I was looking out for him. He did do very vell. I mean that goal that he made was very European-like. It was a one toucher.

I watched the game again and I got to tell you, Ambrossi did so well for the "little tools" he was offered. What I mean is Ambrossi was always on his own and speaking of which, Baldeon did horrible as well. He fights and fights and fights but when he needs to finish he mucks it up. Did you see how Baldeon almost mucked up that pass before Darwin tamed it for us?

For now I say this, I am all for Darwin AS A STRIKER all the way. Castillo did so well so he deserves a sopt in Germany. those two Are my number one choices for the NT. I might say Saritama for second but lke I said before, I get moods swings with him.



I realize that Poland and Costa Rica Were watching this game with great interest. I think its good that Suarez is experimenting giving our opponents all teh confidence they think they need. This is a great Stradegy. I feel like we will win all three games there I said it first.

Come on guys 1 lousy game does not mean sh!t.La metralla needs be called up more to the NT and score goals.A Paredes ne regaldo lo cojo,the only thing this guy is good at is giving headaches.You can't say to put certain players in the NT just because they play in your favorite team.The players who are playing at thier best should be called regardless of what team they play in.Remember la tri es el equipo de todos.

You are 100% correct(finally).Just because metralla scored the f!cking gol of he's life,it does mean he's good.He needs more games.Ese es el problema con los "enfermos" ecuatorianos ya porque ganamos un "juegito" se creen los campeones del mundo.Ponganse pilas chucha!!!!!!!

well i hate to bring club soccer to the forefront but i gotta interject for a second....did anyone happen to catch the cuenca game? i saw this guy matamoros and quiñonez....two really stellar performances...i know about quiñonez but not alot about matamoros...they looked really sharp...maybe they should get a look by the NT?? wat u guys gotta say?
