As a Ajax supporter i'd be glad to see him leave Holland.

LOL..i did not expect this.
I have my doubts if he is up for the job. Hiddink can do miracles with "average" teams..He is at his best at making decent players work together perfectly. However..the England squad is full of world class players who require different methods.
Dont forget how Hiddink miserably failed at Real Madrid..or how much problems he had with the Dutch Squad at Euro 96 (Davids sent home..fights between players). I think he should rather coach another upcoming footballnation.

I think you are right Benny.
He did a great job with Korea at the last world cup, but then he had the time with the players to train them like a club side.

I think Hiddink is a top class manager and don't consider the current PSV a avarage team. Last year they were one goal away from the CL final and in '88 he won the European Cup with PSV. On the WC '98 only one penalty made the difference sending Brasil into the final. Holland played some nice football then and was full of world class players. You can't judge the man on 2 seasons in Spain. I think he could do very well in England.

Sounds like he's perfect for England then. :p
Just kidding! He's improved a lot as a manager since then, he also took Holland to the world cup semifinals in which they were regarded as one of the best teams in the tournament and would have won it had they not been so inept at penalty shooting. I wouldn't call Holland 98 an "average" team + PSV are a big team by Dutch standards. I'd pick him over McLaren anyday. He's also a former Earthquake :) . Maybe he could do some sort of co management thing with Shearer. Dunno, he's one of the better choices of the names being thrown around so far + he (or at least his agent) does seem to WANT the job, which is more that you can say for some of the others.

A top class manager with international experience and most importantly success. His time in Spain is a worry but with England he'd have full managerial freedom something he may not have had with Madrid.

Big Sam, Pearce, O'Niell, Curbishley, McClaren, Scolari, Hiddink and some say Hitzfelt etc...
out of those i'd only consider Big Sam, O'Niell, Scolari, Hiddink and Hitzfelt or even Lineker :)

Maybe you could get some Graham Taylor / Linker co-management team. Would like to see their first game against Ireland with a McCarthey/Keane management partnership. Oh yeah, there's always Gazza!

The radio and press seems full of Dutch blokes bigging up Hiddink. I'm guessing they're his mates.

There're other polls that show the opposite stats. Just depends on the reader demographic, I guess.

Mark Lawrenson may be "Irish" but I think he'd make a great manager for England. His insights are priceless:
IF
"If you had Mick McCarthy at Chelsea, I don't think you would see many changes. "
"If you're the coach, you set the team to play a certain way. You know your opposition weeks in advance and you devise a plan on how to beat them."
