I read that he is a postman in Reading. kind of strange for a guy who probably earned a lot of money as a footballer.

He was playing when there wasn't that much money in the game.

His wife used to present a show on BBC2 wih Damon from Brookside.

Reading, eh? Maybe he's my postman?

Maybe him absent-mindedly reminiscing about his glory days is why I never get notes notifying me that parcels have arrived? Maybe he's the reason we keep having to ring the main sorting office and enquire whether packages we expected have shown up yet?

I'll look out for my postman tomorrow morning, and will let you all know if it's Neil Webb. I expect you'll be waiting with baited breath.

Yep tis true... http://www.thebubbleburst.co.uk/bb.php?entry=Neil%20Webb

"Neil now works as a postman in Reading, working 10 hour shifts and getting paid 220 pounds a week."

Ouch went from playing against Italy in the World cup 3rd place match to delivering letters within 10 years. You hear about it (success stories) being the other way around but this is bizarre. He could try and come to MLS but he'd probably have to take a pay cut from his current job. :D

He may not have earned a fortune but I bet he earned enough not to spend the rest of his life as a postman. The trouble is these fellas earned good money but didn't have the sense to look after it.

I think a messy divorce got in the mix somewhere along the line.

Damn, I remember him - was hailed as the next big thing when Fergie signed him, but just slipped into obscurity.

There was a good article on this in FourFourTwo a few months back.

And......
My postman knocked on my door to deliver a parcel this morning. He wasn't Neil Webb ... unless he's had one of these new-fangled face transplants.

I have taught my dog, to savage the postman, every time he leaves the gate open - you'ld be surprised how quick postmen can move, with a bull terrier on their arse, even if they haven't been in training for years - I wonder if it's Neil Webb???
