Mart Poom signs a permanent deal with Arsenal

Seeing as he hasn't played a 1st team match YET, I don't know what to make of him. He has an impressive resume: 6 time Estonian POY, 200 matches for Derby County and Sunderland.

Totally confused by this signing. Not sure what to think about this. All I know is it isn't one of the signings that will pave the way to Henry signing a new contract.

Good pickup for me, experienced, knows the English game and has been playing well in reserve matches by all accounts. Can't hurt to have a keeper this experienced as your number three, you know he won't be fazed if he does have to be thrown into the first team for any reason.

Exactly. Reasonable quality, and isn't going to be popping off in the press about how he should be starting, how the other GKs are mean to him, etc. Signing big names isn't the only way to help your team, we need good backups in an emergency. Does anybody think that Cygan is as good a left back as Poom is a keeper? What if we had somebody of that quality at the position, it could have helped this year.

Well you stole it off of me as I started a thread with this title when he signed a contract extension. I am going to sue your ass... and Will Smith's!!!

Only reason I can see this being done is Jens leaving during the summer. Otherwise it makes no sense.

What are you talking about? If Lehmann or Almunia go down then we have some kid on the bench without Poom around. He's 33, Lehmann's 36, this signing gives the young keepers at the club time to mature.

Now you've got all the English thinking you're going to sue my donkey :)
It's all Will smiths fault, it's the last time I mention a song idea to him over a pint in the Dog and bollock.

Mainly the former, but the latter is also good.
