Not sure how great for team unity this sort of stuff is:

The former Ireland under-21 skipper is behind Stalteri in the full-back pecking order at White Hart Lane this term and is becoming increasingly frustrated by his lack of opportunity.
'If I'm not in the side for the Fulham game I'll have to look at things again,' he said.
'I thought I did well against Villa and if I keep my place then I keep my place. If I don't then we'll see what happens.'

I agree with him, he did well against Villa, he got up and down the wing well and was never caught out of position in his natural right back role.
IMO he is better than Stalteri and given a run of games will establish himself but i don't think Jol will give him them games.

I don't rate him, he's not bad but doesnt look top 6 quality. It's fair enough that he's insisting on starting game, as at this stage of his career he really needs that. I think he has picked the wrong club for that though.
Stalteri is nothing special, but I feel more secure with him. Hopefully the club will get a new right back soon, there was a rumour going around today that the club were looking at a quality player who can play right back and midfield.

I'd say good riddance...Kelly is useless.
I agree Stalteri has been fairly solid at the back and does well pushing up... the goal against Leicester was great. He left Kewell open in the Liverpool game but I'm not willing to dump him for a half-hearted overly self inflated youngster like Kelly.
The thing that baffles me is why Ziegler isn't back in... there's a youngster who played his heart out for Spurs (same goes for Lennon). Maybe a few games at Wigan and we'll see him back at the Lane. In my book Ziegler and Lennon get in the starting XI before the likes of Kelly any day.

Ok, this is a difficult one for me. You see, I totally agree with Stu [THFC1] that Steo Kelly does have more ability than Stalty does.
But we are building a team that is abundant with inexperience.
With Lennon in front of Kelly, we would ship goals all day. Martin knows this, hence the appointment of the more experienced, yet not so good Stalteri.
I am very sure that a right & left back are topping the 'wanted list' that Messrs Comolli and Jol have drawn up.

If he just wants to whine and doesn't think he's good enough to keep fighting for a spot, then he can just go. You'd think having Robbie as a teammate would give him a clue about a better attitude.

....great point K.
Robbie Keane has surpassed all my expectations of him. I actually wanted him out in the summer. Stupid Jaymes!

He's a good young player but do Spurs really need someone who's gonna whinge every time they don't start a game. Ship him out.

My concern is that he should at least wait until he's benched again (if that happens) before putting the gun to the manager's head. Instead he's actually doing it before hand. If he had kept his mouth shut & gotten the nod against Fulham people would assume it was because he's earned it with his previous performance - now if he does people might think its because he threatened to go, which makes the manager look weak.
This sort of thing can't impress the manager, and it's not likely to impress his teammates either I suspect.
Having said that, he did look better than Lee did against Villa.

Let's not forget that this is Lee's first season in EPL, and he has not yet fully adapted to the team / league.
When Lee finds his PSV form, he's one of the top 4 LB in EPL.

I do agree in some ways but Lee is experienced enough to cope with it, he has played many international games and Champions League games. I think when a player first comes into the Premier League it is the pace of the game they have to adapt to. His crossing has been very poor and in the Villa game his control of the ball was terrible and i think patience is wearing thin with the Tottenham supporters.

I agree to a certain extent, although I would make a few corrections:
As soon as Lee learns how to cross with his left foot and improves his positional sense (so as not to leave the CB stranded all the time) he will quite possibly be THE best LB in the EPL.
I come to this conclusion because other than those two issues he is very good and has the potential to be much better.
(1) He has fantastic skills (better than any LB I can think of, including the Golden Globe-winning Ashley Cole)
(2) He has a great fitness level, and
(3) He is also very fast.
The problem is, his two issues are pretty major ones...

I haven't seen the Villa game yet, but it seems to me the other thing that could really make Lee more dangerous if he had a little confidence shooting. I recall at least 3 times he found himself in a reasonable position to shoot and he has no confidence and botches it. Defenders aren't worried about him much at all in that regard. I think some of his quickness and trickery would have a much greater effect if they had to respect his shot even a little bit.

Agreed. Although I'd say signing a target forward or two to lead the line would probably be the very top of the list. Signing Mido is probably priority number 1 at the moment. His price has definitely risen.

Glad you've seen the light. ;) But don't be too harsh on yourself, Defoe is an excellent talent and Keane (who wierdly enough is still young) has shown an outburst when he wasn't getting playing time. Many people, including the vast majority of this board, had written off Keane because of Defoe's splendour. I was never one of them, and am very happy to see Keane doing what he's always done ... create a good amount, get into a ton of great positions giving him many many many good scoring opportunities, and converting some of them. Sure, if he converted most of them we'd be talking about him in the same breath as Shevchenko. But, even given his finishing rate he still scores a good amount of goals and creates more than any of our other forwards. He's very talented and still has quite a few years ahead of him to contribute to Spurs.

I kinda agree with Kelly. He's decent and should be given games.
For that reason it;s a shame we're not in any cups anymore, but there we go.

Kelly has been poor whenever I've seen him. He would of course improve with more games, but we should get a quality right back. At the moment Stalteri is the better option.
Lee is good, but comparing him favourably with ACole is over the top.
As for Robbie Keane, he is generally loved at spurs. If you buy the fanzine or go to a lot of games it's obvious the level of support for Keano is almost as high as for Robinson / King Ledley. Although he did have dinner with David O'Twat after the Villa game last week...

If I was Jol, I would stick Kelly in the under 18's for a month so as to humble him.

Not being in any cups may be a blessing for staying in the top 4 though....only one thing to focus on.
It's bad for me though until they do get in the Champions League because it's less games on the telly here.

...finally! Someone that agrees with me.
