Forget Burton, that's in the past now. The league. Should we be trying to accomodate the kid in any of the future league games in any genuine capacity. And if so, how would you play him, or would he be only in the(your) team if Rooney was not on the field.

Thoughts?

I presume you're referring to Rossi?

:D Sure am!

Why not accomodate him? The only thing to play for this season is second place and while it's nice not to have to qualify for the CL, it's not the end of the world to finish third. Plus, Rossi appears to be smart enough to fit into the team.

No good reason not to, really. Give him some bench time and some minutes at the end of games. Who knows, he may displace Rooney :D

Rooney to replace Scholes in midfield.

So does anyone want to see him start a game, a PL one?

Start him. Rooney needs a rest (after Liverpool) anyway.

I'd like to see him in something like this:

Ronaldo---Smith/Fletch(because that's what we have) -----Giggs/Park

------------Rooney----------

Ruud--------------------The Precious

I know it's sort of a 4-3-3 but considering that Rooney is all over the place it could be interesting. It sure as hell should open some space for any of the 4 R's to operate in.

But alas Fergie would probably team Rossi with O'shite and Kieran on the backline...

I might be shot for this but I think this team would be better off with a Rooney-Rossi partnership with Rossi in the hole and Rooney running up top. Rooney plays great behind the striker but last year when he played as the long forward he was unstoppable as well so you could utilize our strengths. With Rossi dropping into the hole, Rooney a more mobile and better dribbling forward turning and running at the center backs which would allow Scholes and Ronaldo to make more penetrating runs.

You may be correct, based on the fact that Rossi has been so impressive in the reserves and the Carling Cup and Ruud has only been successful in the Prem.

I like Ruud as a striker but his style of play isn't conducive to the tools we have at our disposal at the moment. Ruud was great when he had service but lately he hasn't been getting any since Ronaldo or Giggs aren't the best crossers in the world. It's about time we go with two forwards who can give movement and a different dimension.

How many of Ruud's (Prem leading) goals were scored off of crosses? Do we need to continue to perpetuate the myth that Ruud can't score if he doesn't have wingers firing in perfect crosses?

Ruud has done and continues to do the business at this level. Ruud has more than earned a place in the starting eleven for every game. The team is not improved by sitting Ruud.

That being said, I, too, want to see Rossi get a chance. I see no reason why he shouldn't get an opportunity when Rooney or Ruud have a rest and I see no reason why he shouldn't come off the bench before Saha.

Ruud sitting is ludacris, isn't he leading all scorers in Eroupe (not sure). Rossi is in a hell of a predicamant, he plays basically the same game as Rooney and he's not going anywhere. Saha seems to come off the bench and torture tired defenders with his pace. Either Rossi or Rooney is going to have to move to midfield unless Saha is sold.

He's not the leading scorer in Europe. Luca Toni actually has 19 goals for Fiorentina so far. Also, Klose has 16 league and 19 overall goals for Bremen.

Would agree with this. Unfortunately for Rossi. :(

Ruud leads scorers in the prem now, just FYI.

Ruud can score with service, with no service, in Europe, in the Prem, healthy, injured, even outside the box. Ruud could score in a room full of straight men. You know how Sam I Am eats eggs and ham?? -- that's how Ruud scores. He absolutely should be on the pitch at all times, in my opinion.

:D

Crouch usually only scores in a room full of straight men.
