Putting the top 6 in the poll on the basis of goals scored in the league so far, who do you think is the best? Or if you think it's someone outside of that group then put his name down here.

Worth Mentioning Kewell, Owen and Zola all also have 9 goals, just Van Nistelrooy was on top of the list I had for some reason. Also worth mentioning in that list only Robbie Keane and Nicolas Anelka can boast not needing penaltys or free kicks to pump up their talleys.

Actually Henry has 17 and not 16 league goals this year as the poll says.

I would go with Henry then Anelka as the best strikers right now they both have a very similar style and approch to the game with their bags of skills on top of their finishing ability, I could only guess what the goal totals at Highbury would be looking like if Anelka didnt sulk his way out of North London a few years back.

Shearer is hitting top form right now too, but is a much diffrent style player than the above mentioned players, I am gald he's still able to get it done at his age after the injuries he's suffered

Thierry Henry!

In a class above the rest in the Premiership.

His hat-trick against West Ham - right foot, left foot, and header - was a classic!!

Got to say Henry, but damn Beattie is having a season. Beattie for England! Saints for Europe.

Well he at least made the team of the week at this site. He's up front with Henry.

Hasselbaink had a right left and header hat trick once, absolutley class and all from open play too. None a patch on Keanes V Everton though.

The obvious choice is Henry.

Henry, absolutely. He was amazing on Sunday; too bad the rest of the squad were pretty sluggish.

Beattie has been an absolute joy to watch, though. I wonder if he'll be able to beat out Henry for scoring this season?

1/Henry, by far
2/Shearer, mister efficiency
3/Van Nistelroy - he's pure class
4/Anelka although he is now miles behind Henry
5/Beatie - one for the future

Top 5 is a good idea, since Henry is pretty much killing everyone else in the poll. Mine would be...

1. Henry - Sheer pace and class, impossible to contain.
2. Shearer - Track record, and the fact that not only is he still doing it at this age but still doing it after his injuries.
3. Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Not having the best season, but his record in Europe and last season speaks for itself.
4. Keane - Call me biased, but he's the youngest striker there, didn't need frees and penos to up his talley and he probably does more for running at people, setting up goals then the likes of Shearer and Ruud. 3 in 4 at a world cup is fantastic too.
5. Anelka - Attitude problems maybe, but unquestionable ability. Not quite as fast as Henry, but argubley a better finisher, he's a fine goal scorer, also got all his goals from open play.

Beattie would be up there, but his goals talley is very inflated by the 5 penos and other set peices he's taken. Definitely worthy of an England call though, the potential is there for all to see, he could go on to be one of the best. I'd have Hasselbaink up there too, having a bad season so far, otherwise I'd rate him in the top 2 at least. One of my all time favourite players never to play for my favourite country/club.

I agree ... Henry. Partly due to all-around game not mentioned yet.

But each of his goals was equally due to the delivery men -

1. Bergkamp unbelievable one-touch ball in traffic to charging Pires who was fouled or flopped creating the penalty.

2. Bergkamp perfectly placed, perfectly paced cross for Henry header who both got himself completely unmarked and converted.

3. Bergkamp beautifully weighted pass from back to Pires beautifully weighted cross to Henry for beautiful open-field finish.

Just because they aren't having great years is no reason to completely forget about Hasselbaink and Owen, both recent Golden Booters. They both can match up against anyone in England except Henry, who is now clearly in a class by himself.
