From Ananova

David Fernandez struck twice as Celtic enjoyed a 3-1 comfortable win over Austrian amatuers Liebnitz.

The Spaniard's double was the highlight of a poor game as the Bhoys recovered from a goal down to claim victory.

Jorg Rottenchlager fired Liebnitz into a surprise lead early in the second half but Fernandez responded to put Celtic ahead before Shaun Maloney completed the scoring.

Rottenchlager went close to opening the scoring in the first half as Celtic, with Fernandez and Simon Lynch up front, made little impact.

Momo Sylla forced a couple of saves out of goalkeeper Michael Schammt and he was also called upon to tip away Alan Thompson and Paul Lambert efforts but Celtic offered little else before the break.

Lynch glanced a header wide five minutes after the restart but Celtic were caught cold when Rottenchlager smashed home a powerful shot off the crossbar.

Martin O'Neill's side responded immediately as Fernandez finished off some good work by Jamie Smith to equalise and then volleyed home a Steve Guppy cross to put them in front.

Celtic were rarely troubled after that and wrapped up the win when Maloney headed home another Guppy cross.

They could have had another late on but John Hartson's clever chip rebounded off the bar.

Celtic are battling Southampton and Aston Villa for South Korean World Cup ace Lee Chun-Soo.
The Scottish champs are seeking talks with the 21 year-old's representatives, but know they face stiff competition from their Premiership rivals.

Soo, who plays for Ulsan Hyundai Horang, would cost around £2 million and his wages would be affordable.

However, his club has told him he cannot leave until the end of the year.

Lee is a championship manager god and they are usually pretty right when it comes to young talents!

Werder Bremen 6 - Celtic 2
scorers to follow.
I know its only a friendly but that is still shocking.
Apparently Gould was attrocious, i didnt hear it myself though but it sounds oddly believeable :D
If anything points out to the board that we need some depth in the squad though its this.
Ouch!

Hopefully we will show up for the games against ajax and parma.

Found out about the bremen game, at half time it was 1-1 (hartson penalty opened the scoring they leveled from a free kick)and that was with a quite weak celtic side, at the break the subs made included Gould and Guppy and we were then 3-1 down less than 10 minutes, we got back into it a bit more but then lost another goal, the fault of that man Jonathon again, highlighting if it needed highlighting how much we need a decent replacement incase of injury or suspension to big rab, and no kasey keller will not do!
We lost another and then fernandez pulled one back before they got their 6th.

Iam mightily impressed with young david so far BTW.

Looking at the lineup in the paper, there was only one natural defender in it! (Tom Boyd) Presumably Sutton must have been playing centre-half.

Thats the way I assumed it was too, reading a few of the Tic message boards about the place though and it seems like Neil Lennon was also playing at the back, and with the man gould in goals it was a disaster waiting to happen.
This is what it would be like if say bobo, dolph, joos and crainey all picked up injuries god forbid!

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Signing Boyd again is bad enough but this would be awful, I don't question MON much but Elliot or Izzet are simply not good enough.

is it just me or do irish people from the new york area dont give a damn about Celtic and Rangers? (from looking at the poor attendances they have drawn in the doubleheaders)
