god damn i can't believe HSV snapped de Jong  they did that so "silently" and fast. Vaart, de Jong, what next!?
BTW any1 know how much BVB offered for him (if they did offer)?
I believe BVB made an offer, but it's pretty clear this thing didn't come down to how big of a transfer fee the club could pay, I think this came down to who could pay him the larger salary.
And the answer was HSV.......... :(

Well each to his own, of course, but considering it involves a player we didn't sign, I'm not too discouraged by this outcome at all. Sure it would have been nice to see him playing for BVB but we were only ever an outside chance, and when weighed against De Jong playing for the likes of West Ham or Spurs, I'm actually delighted that he's come to the Bundesliga and might help HSV chase down Bayern in the new year. Besides which, between Kehl's extension and the signing of both Amoah and Pienaar, I think we've done very well for ourselves over the last month. So if I can't have something that's good for BVB, then something that's good for the Bundesliga is the next best thing.

Absolutely agree.

And again: 100% agree.

Oh btw ...
HSV did get AUFLAGEN by DFL last season, we only got BEDINGUNGEN. Both sounds bad but Auflagen usually means they have to do it between the first and the final Licensetrials or they won't get a License... Bedingungen means they get a license but have to show chances afterwards (BVB : Financial status every quarter iirc)
HSV was related to the license giving in much bigger trouble then us ...
So I really wonder if they have their own money made somewhere.
and BTW .. only because a HSV Fan says he gets no 3M you can't tell he isn't only he and the club know for sure ... and they won't tell
But then ....
we bet something over 1 mio .... Tottenham surely bet more .. and therefor HSV had to beat the Spurs ...
HSV is totally following BVB and Schlacke on their way to "buy" success ... and imho they will fall as we did, or as schlacke does

Unless Hamburg fails, which I am sure they do ...
But then .. he is there ...I prefer Werder over HSV .. but anything that helps giving no title to Bayern is ok .... and hope we'll find a player who is as good.

We need to get over being pi$$ed off when other clubs "buy" success. Like you, I get upset about it.
As you said, we did it too and whether we like it or not, that's just how football is these days.
Success on the pitch will start with success and competence in the boardroom and on the trainer's bench. Plain and simple.
I don't mind clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona, who make their money in the game and outspends everyone else with that money they made in football. However, I F#CKING HATE IT when someone who got mega-rich doing other things, like Abramowich at Chelsea, comes in and starts throwing ungodly amounts of money around that even the richest clubs who've made their money in football just can't match.
That's what I don't want becoming "normal" in the sport, but it's quickly heading in that direction.
I think rules should be made (Salary & Transfer Caps) to level the playing field, but FIFA & UEFA don't seem to have the courage to try to implement these things......

Moved this over from the HSV thread........
Sure ... that we bet 2 Mio and the Spurs topped us ... isn't so important ... HSV gets him for less than the 2 Mio we offered ... SURE ...
We weren't offering him 2M in salary, were we? I don't think so. That money will go to a new central striker for next season.
This deal wasn't decided on who would pay Ajax the most money. This deal was decided on who would pay de Jong the most money.
You aren't sitting there telling me we were going to offer him a salary of 2M per season, are you?
I don't think there's any way we could pay him that much and still bring in a new central striker for next season.
At least not without selling Rosicky now. I don't think you have your "facts" straight man. Or is there something I'm missing here?

I read somewhere (Not "Bild") that if you eat fresh bird s#it within ten seconds of it leaving the bird's ass, you will be able to fly.......
You believe everything you read?
If we offered de Jong 2M, then I am f#cking happy we didn't get him!
I don't think the others on the team would stand for that when most of them just took salary cuts.
BVB offering de Jong 2M per season just doesn't make much sense to me.
The way I understood it, any salary like that (Basically Koller's salary) is being saved to bring in a "name" striker. We can't pay de Jong and a new striker. And don't forget about Pienaar coming in next season too.
I think we need a new striker more than we needed de Jong.
So, I congratulate HSV, but I seriously doubt they are paying him 3M per season.
van der Vaart isn't making that much.........
I wouldn't doubt HSV offered de Jong 1.5 or 2M, an "out clause" within two seasons, and a better shot at UEFA competition next season.
After all, HSV are looking a hell of a lot better than we are right now.
And not even you can deny that!
Just get over it man. Two weeks ago, we were sitting here acknowledging we had very little chance to get de Jong.
I love BVB management (When do you ever see me say that s#it?! :) ) for trying so hard to get the player. However, I'm not heartbroken or upset that another German team beat us to his signature.
If it were BayScum or Scheisse 0-6 who signed de Jong, THEN I WOULD BE UPSET!!!
But I wouldn't be upset with BVB management. I would be upset in general.
I think we just have to continue on with the plan BvM has us on.
I don't think not getting de Jong hurts or destroys us in any way. We'll just continue to develop Kruska for that position.
I applaud BVB management for their efforts. It simply didn't work out.
It's nothing to sit here and continue to bitch, Bitch, and BITCH about.
I'm more worried about Wolfsburg tomorrow! ;)

Tottenham already offered De Jong serious money. Regarding that and lower GB taxes, my wild guess would be at least 2.5 Mio.

now that we've all had our say on the de Jong to HSV transfer we can look forward to what Dortmund have in the works for the rest of the transfer window, which is rapidly closing as we speak.
While I'd like to see another striker come in right away, I think we did well with the transfers and keeping with BvM's plan of youth. Where that leaves us for THIS year is still in question, and while I absolutely hate looking forward to next year (as that usually intonates a failure THIS year), I think we are set up for a successful campaign.
Was the de Jong transfer the last foray into the market for Dortmund or is there another shock move just before the deadline? I'm inclined to think that all will be quiet until the summer for Dortmund. And I'm fine with that. We showed ambition and a commitment to building the quality of the squad. And we showed restraint and intelligence as we did not offer any huge contracts for marginal players (which we'll see alot of as the window closes and as the ACofN ends with the "Next African Star"), nor were we pressured into huge contracts for young potentially great players (de Jong).
All in all Dortmund have done well so far in keeping with BvM's plan.

There is a slight chance (<1%) that Rosicky might be sold within the next days, and Pienaar bought immediately.
At all I am also quite happy with our policy. We gave Weidenfeller, Kehl and Co. new contracts plus signed Amoah for the return leg and Pienaar for next summer. Another quality centre striker and maybe a back-up left-back for next season and I am fine.

I hope it's just my cynical nature but every year I have doubts that Dede will be around for the start of the next season, and I suspect it'll be the same again this time around. While Chelsea's approaches never amounted to anything more than tyre-kicking last summer, I worry that without European football in 2006 and with the departure of the last of the Sammer-era players (Koller, Rosicky, Evanilson etc) he'll ask for a move away. Granted, he's given terrific service to this club and could have easily walked away some time ago, but Sebastian Kehl aside I'd struggle to think of a player more difficult to replace in terms of experience and reliability than him.

Tomas Rosicky seems set to join Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.
The Borussia Dortmund schemer was close to a move to Atletico during last month's transfer window - only for the move to fall through.
Atletico have held a long-term interest in the Czech Republic international and reports in Spain suggest they have agreed a deal to sign Rosicky in the summer.
Borussia are resigned to losing Rosicky with only a fee to be agreed between both clubs.
"We have not received an offer yet, but I expect this will happen soon," said Dortmund chief business manager Hans-Joachim Watzke.
"It is not only the transfer fee, it also depends on the way of payment. In Spain, there has been for half-a-year news that everything is done.
"It is no secret that Tomas wants to leave Dortmund. We told him 'Finish this season and we will see if there is any reasonable offer'."

That could be, but I wouldn't stress over it. If Dede, truly wanted to leave. I don't think he would have extended with us. You have to remember, Dede was around BEFORE the Sammer years. If I remember properly, Dede joined us during Skibbe's time as trainer. He's been with us through good and bad and seen all these guys come and go. I don't think being in Europe means much to Dede. Again, he had the chance to leave for nothing after last season and he stayed, knowing our European chances were slim. I must stress once more, I don't think Dede would have extended with us after last season if being on a team in Europe meant as much to him as you seem to think it does.
Before he extended, I thought he was leaving too. It made no sense for him to stay in my opinion. He could have left for free after last season, but chose to extend with us. It's obvious to me Dede feels at home in Dortmund. Dede seems to be one of the rare athletes this seems to still mean something to.
Dede is only signed through the end of next season. I think he wanted to see the direction the club is going in. I think everyone likes the direction this club is headed and I think he'll stick around after next season as long as the club continues heading upward.
Mark this down. It's a rare "optimistic" post from me! LOL!! ;)

Yeah, it's true, but nothing has been decided and it's nothing to worry about.

Dortmund has reached an agreement with Swiss striker Alex Frei on a deal starting next season. He still has a contract at Rennes until 2007 so he will cost some millions.
Someone posted that on another forum... not sure if true.
