Another reason is that we've got a young defender coming in from Braunschweig next season on a free transfer. Martin Amedick.

Which sucks .

De Jong moves to HSV ... which is ridiculous , as HSV only showed its intrest lately .... I could have understand Sevilla or Tottenham ... but not "Little BayScum" as they want to become it

Dude, I can't hate on HSV for moving in on the player. It's just good business.

And I hope he's the spark for them to take the title from BayScum.

They want to pay him 3 Million per year! Where the hell do they have so much money!?!?

I think it's sponsorship and they've been smart with their money. Who's the last expensive signing you ever heard HSV making?

Who on their roster besides van der Vaart makes a great salary??

This was just a great move on their part.

I don't hate them, I envy them right now. :o

HSV scouted him since 18 months...as BVB did.

They are playing a dangerous game as they sold part of their future already. Just like we did, just not that "big". Now they have to play CL, like Schlacke have to do. Probably only one of those two will make it.

I don't see how. They haven't really spent that much. At least not on transfer fees.

Van der Vaart cost them 5.1M right? van Buyten cost less than 4M (3.8 I think) and they are getting de Jong for 1M. Ailton's loan only cost them 475,000.

They have to cover the salaries, yes, but who else on their team is a financial liability?

Plus, if they ever get into financial trouble in the next two years, they'll be able to unload vDv alone for about 15-20M.

And unless they are hit by a rash of injuries or Doll loses his freakin' mind, I can see them easily finishing first or second.

What have they done that's so big of a gamble? For you to make those comments, I'm sure I've missed something.

Lauth 4.5 Mio, Atouba 2.5 Mio, Mpenza 2 Mio. Though their transfers lately have been hits mostly (van Buyten, Boulahrouz, van der Vaart) they still suffer from old mistakes like Ledesma 4 Mio, Albertz 5 Mio. Their debts sum up to something about 90 Mio Euro, sold already rights like catering for several years. Though the debts include stadium financing, while our debts have to be added to the stadium debts (in total something about 200 Mio).

Be sure that van der Vaart has a buy-out option. No official statement concerning this, but his manager must be nuts if there isn't a buy-out clause or something similar. Hamburg is just a step step into the grande football world.

BTW, DanielHSV has said on their thread that de Jong getting paid 3M is BS.

If HSV have to play in the CL, I think they are going about it the right way. I think they could use another defender, but I like the way they've built their team and I'm actually a bit surprised at myself that I'm not bitter about their getting de Jong.

Yes, I believe they are gambling, but I feel they've gambled well........ :)

I know HSV is a stepping-stone for vDv. I said that on the list when they signed him. However, the only story I read concerning a "get out clause" is that he can leave after the 2008-2009 season for 1.5 M. This is why I said on the list that HSV will probably cash in on him after next season. :D

We will see in a few years time if HSV becomes the next great rival to Bayern in Germany or goes in the way of BVB or Hertha, and head downwards again. Only time will tell. For now, I think they're doing it the right way. For now.

Yeah. After you guys, I think Scheisse will be the next to crash and burn. I think HSV will make it.

BVB will continue to strive to reach Werder's status. And we will get there. Schaaf and BvM seem to share the same beliefs......

Eventually everyone is going to try to be like Werder. We're trying to slim down the club a lot, we don't particularly care if we get transfer fees, as long as players not producing they can go for free practically (i.e. Wichniarek) or let the contracts run out (Marx).

In 2 years you will see an incredibly young Hertha...and you won't see Marcelinho, Gilberto, Kovac, Simunic, van Burik and Fiedler in it. We will play our youngsters. Pretty soon we'll see how Dejagah, Salihovic, Boateng and co. really are. Whether they can stay up in 1. Bundesliga we'll be fine. I don't think in the playing field we'll be relegation battlers. But financially, I'm not sure.

As it's pretty late now I'll just mention that kicker rates him among the best in the league so far this season and he's definitely one of our most important players. I think he'll play quite a lot of Bundesliga games in the future. But now I need to go to bed ;).

god damn i can't believe HSV snapped de Jong  they did that so "silently" and fast. Vaart, de Jong, what next!?
BTW any1 know how much BVB offered for him (if they did offer)?
