There are rumours in Cologne that Imre Szabics is in negotiations with BVB

This interests me i have to say, though i wouldn't want him to come to Dortmund. I just don't think he would play at all if he went there. And he wouildn't replace Gambino, he has played striker for three seasons now so i doubt he can still do much else. Also, he was injured more or less this whole season, so this would be a risky buy for Dortmund and a dumb decision by Szabics. But he would be free.

Szabics is a guy that Hertha should be really interested in.

So if he's free, where does the "risky" part come in?? ;)

And why wouldn't he replace Gambino? Gambino is a striker too......

But, he would have a bit of a chance to play. Especially if Smolarek and Amoah F*CKING SUCK as badly as they did near the end of the season. Well, that's in Amoah's case. Smolarek sucked the entire second half of the season!

And as BvM showed with Metzelder this past season, he isn't above benching a regular starter if someone else is playing better....

His salary would be the risky part. But the biggest risk would be taken by Szabics himself, as i can't see him playing often.

Again, why not? In the second half (17 weeks) of the season, Smolarek scored a whopping total of TWO goals! He went the final seven weeks of the season without a goal and prior to that second goal of the second half of the season, he'd gone another EIGHT WEEKS without scoring!

Sure, Smolarek had 13 goals this past season, but what people fail to see is that he scored well over half of them (8) in the first nine weeks of the season!!!

Meaning, in the next 25 weeks, Ebi Smolarek scored a whopping total of FIVE goals!!

What sucks for us is that if you take away his first nine weeks, that still ties him for tops on the team..... :(

That's why we're going after strikers.

Now, the big question would be this:

"Would Szabics be a starter?"

We both know that answer is a clear "No" with BVB's current plans.

But who's to say Szabics couldn't win a spot as first man off the bench in relief of either Valdez or Frei should we get them both? Those guys won't play 90 minutes every week.

Plus, what if one of them gets hurt?? Why can't Szabics step in instead of Smolarek??

If we don't get Frei, who's to say that our starting strikers next season wouldn't be Szabics, Valdez and Odonkor??

Trust me, it wouldn't bother me one little bit to see Ebi Smolarek's ass firmly pinned to the BVB bench next season until he shows that he can find the net on a consistent basis.........

The same goes for Matthew Amoah, but he can be easily forgiven because of injuries and really not enough time to adapt to the BL game.

Why smile? Because of the transfer fee? Or because he is going to a team that is just building great potential?

I'd be real down if I was a BVB fan, I mean, I am as a Bundesliga fan...

Everyone knows (even BVB fans) that he was going to go. They need the $$ for him so that they can improve other areas. They already have Pienaar as his replacement, and thats almost as equal for getting Rosicky, and he was free!

Yeah this week is the week of truth ... Another important decision by the Molsiris Owners ... Rosicky transfer ... maybe Valdez/Frei transfer ....

Exactly. Plus I am convinced that he deserves better than what BVB can offer him right now.

From BVB.de (its official now)

Tomas Rosicky wechselt zu Arsenal London

Not that it hasn't been alluded to by the last few posts, but Rosicky's Arsenal tranfer seems to have finally gone through, though the amount is described as 'undisclosed' by most sources. Some mention a figure around £7million. While part of me is relieved it's finally over, and any chance that he might have broken a leg at the World Cup and left us without any cash at all has passed, it's still a little frustrating that we can only really ask £7-8million for a player whose talent would seem to suggest a figure well above that.

Having said that, best of luck to Tomas both for the Czechs and for the Gunners come September. While he's obviously expressed a desire to leave for some time, he's still been a key performed for us during the past season and seems to have been an important point of reference for young Nuri Sahin as well. Not to mention the fact that, just like Jan Koller, he was part of the 2002 squad that gave us all such good times.

Most of the articles now are saying 7 million pounds or 10.2 million Euros.

Nah man. This is a great day for us! We knew Rosicky was going, it was just a matter of who to.

We got the money we needed to strengthen the team in other ways.

We've got our replacement for next season signed (Pienaar) and our future superstar already on the roster (Sahin).

We're good man. We're good!!! :D

Any info on Pienaar?

As for Rosicky - I've always been hot and cold on Rosicky, just like his performances. He could be awesome at times, and certainly has tons of skill, but he could also disappear from games for long periods.

Thus, it's good that BVB got some money for him, since he wanted out anyway. It will be good for both Rosicky and BVB. It will also be good for Arsenal, as Rosicky will be surrounded by better players, not the least of which is Henry. Guys like Henry and Ljungberg and Hleb will take a lot of pressure off Rosicky, and he'll be more free to do the things he does best.

Any info on Pienaar?

I've only seen some video of him in action in the Dutch League. Looks fast with good ball skills. A Rosicky-type player, but more of a scoring threat. Well, at least more of a scoring threat than Tomas was with us.

As for Rosicky - I've always been hot and cold on Rosicky, just like his performances. He could be awesome at times, and certainly has tons of skill, but he could also disappear from games for long periods.

I think it depended on what kind of mood he was in. He had been coming around the past two seasons, but just couldn't seem to stay healthy.

I still believe Sammer letting Frings keep many of the central midfield duties after a Rosicky injury not only crushed Rosicky's confidence, but soured him on BVB as a club too. And honestly, with the s#it the old management let Sammer get away with, I can't blame Rosicky for souring on the club.

Thus, it's good that BVB got some money for him, since he wanted out anyway. It will be good for both Rosicky and BVB.

We had to get money for him. It was written into our financial recovery plan and everyone knew this was the last time BVB would be able to get a significant amount for him.

Plus, we had to move now to be able to buy the players we want to get. According to news reports out of the Dortmund area, BVB are confident the Valdez deal will be done soon, but they still say Rennes are asking too much money for Frei. I don't expect to see Frei in Dortmund. I hope we turn our attention to Kaiserslautern's Boubcar Sanogo......

Totally agree! Now, if he can only stay healthy.......... :o
