If you were wondering where i was in the last few days i was off because my internet has buggered up at my house though it should be sorted within a day or to. i had to come down all the way to the town libary to come on here

anyways tough game on saturday, We gotta hope we bounce back from 2 defeats, we played well against Liverpool so the signs are there. Villa's away form is better than there home form so it won't be easy but we need to win to get back on track

i say we'll win 2-1

your thoughts?

We're gonna absolutely thrash Villa. 4-0 my prediction. Defoe hatrick and another header from Ledley.

Not really worried about this game, don't even think it'll be tight. That said, no Mido could be a problem. Rasiak scored an overhead kick for the reserves last night so expect him to do nothing again on saturday. Not that it's gonna matter. He'll be hauled off at half time in disgrace while Defoe and Keane prove that they can in fact play together.

Also like to say i wonder who'll start upfront. Mido is gone wonder if he'll start Rasiak or go with the 2 small men.

I'm worried about Mido not being there cuz he makes such a difference to the team and defenders have nightmares marking him.

Though i still feel with are good home record we should win but it will be tight.

This will be our likely line-up against Villa on Saturday:

Any thoughts on the line-up?

No Mido.

If it's Rasiak I'd prefer to see Defoe up there with him rather than Keane.

I think its a bit strange since Mido is supposed to be gone. :)

I would go with

--------Robbo
Kelly--King-Dawson--Lee
Lennon-Carrick-Davids-Jenas
------Defoe-Keane

Whether Jol would go with the two little guys again im not sure. I would go with Lennon from the start but he could go with Tainio again.

So then we'll have his face on a TV on one of those AV carts with wheels via satellite, and have someone push the cart around the pitch for 90 minutes. Can't be any worse then Rasiak.

I think Jol will initially make the team hard to beat with Tainio on the left, Carrick and Davids in the middle and Jenas on the right with Keane and Defoe up front. If we're not winning after an hour (and no injuries) i'd expect to see Lennon come on Jenas.

The other option is for Tainio to play behind either one or two strikers, a role he's played quite a lot recently though this makes Lee exposed like against Liverpool.

Will be interesting to see if Ifill starts instead of Kelly who could be offloaded to west ham

Rasiak played in the reserves last night. I doubt he will be starting. I think he will pair Defoe and Keane.

But I would suggest going with a 4-5-1. Play Lennon, Jenas, Davids and Routledge (see if one of them can make it on the left) in front of Carrick and behind Defoe.

If we play 4-5-1 i'd expect Davids or Tainio to play on the left. Would like to see Routledge given a go there but i think we'd be too predictable with two right footed players on the left. Hence i think Davids will be given that role, if not Reid.

I'd rather have Keane and Defoe together than Rasiak playing. I heard reports from two different people who went to see the reserves last night and they both said Rasiak was absolutely awful.

Just push Defoe right up on the last man and have Keane dropping off to pick up the ball (and then play Defoe through). I'd also use Jenas as a target for winning headers (and push him up for that). Hopefully Robbo can hit them diagonally so Jenas is up against the full-backs.

I forgot Mido was off to the African kick-about.

Why oh why do so many of you still want us to play with Keane and Defoe up top?? Have faith in our manager will you!

We have all seen them play together and what have we seen? Pants that smells of wee.

Even though I have been hammering the Scarecrow, I would still prefer him up top. Keane imo needs to be rested and Defoe needs a run out at the Lane. Here's what I believe Martin will go with:

Not sure how he looked but he did score in the first half.

...lets hope not as there maybe a sticky mess and doing that will not help if we're losing.

Sorry Mort couldn't resist. Are you the second coming of RMort?

IMO Villa are going to be hit with a very big backlash. I'd like to see Defoe and Keane together if that is the case the 442 with wingers is a big old waste of time. So an attacking Diamond would be best, Carrick as DM, Davids LM, Jenas AM and Tainio on the right.
