I keep saying that Finnan is a great consistent player. Most of us agree.
Here is Rafa's thoughts:
"Finnan is a player who will always play at a consistent level.
He will be seven, eight, nine or even ten out of ten every week. This is really important for the team. Some players find a good level for individual games, but don't do the same every week. Finnan does it for a whole season."

True say. who would have thought that on a team that is the Champions of Europe, the most consistent crosser would be Finnan? He's played outstanding all season.

I just saw the highlights of the Tottenham match. It's unbelievable how much of an offensive threat he has become.

To be fair, Spurs hadn't a left-sided midfielder worthy of name. But you only play against what is in front of you and he took his chances well, providing genuine width and his crossing was of the highest order. He may not have the blisterimng shot of Riise but his crosses invariably beat the first defender. A very good player, indeed. Kromkamp has a fight on his hands, although with the long season (we've already played 37 matches!), he will surely get his chance.

To think that Houllier kept him out of the team and Carragher out of CB for so long. That the first and most obvious move Rafa made when coming here.
Hopefully Finnan will be a cornerstone of our side for years to come.

Well, finnan did play alot under Houllier, but was originaly dropped in favour of Josemi at the beginning of last season. But im realy happy he was dropped, cause after that hes realy matured and become a very important player to us!Hes as consistent as Carragher.

He had 22 LG/3 FA/ 6 EU [32 Total] appearances under Houllier in 03/4 and 33 LG [48 Total] last year under Benitez.
Tied for Third in Appearances last season with Hyypia [48], behind only Riise [54] and Carragher [55]

I remember when he ran all over the US when they played Ireland years ago and was very happy when he was signed.
Wasn't he injured early on in his Liverpool career. Wasn't his leg broken at Blackburn?

That was Carragher...and Baros.
When Houllier first signed Finnan, he was supposed to take Carragher's place at right back. When Rafa originally got to Liverpool, I don't think he liked Finnan much as a defender. He then signed Josemi and started playing Finnan in midfield. It was only after Josemi turned out to be rubbish that Finnan was a regular choice at right back. Finnan has been awesome for a season and a half now. Now Finnan and Carragher are two of the first names on the team sheet. They are just 2 examples of players who have become much better players since Rafa arrived.

Finnan is the Carra from past years. Always steady but seldom getting the accolades.
