Holy crap... that Steelers-Colts game had to be the craziest 4th quarter I've seen in a long time. Even when you thought it was over, it wasn't. Bettis owes Roethlisberger bigtime.

And as a Broncos fan, I'm so glad we don't have to play Indy again. So... so glad.

Now for the Bears...

Funny thing is, I turned to a friend and said "wouldn't it be funny if the Colts return a fumble for a TD" right before the play, considering it was Bettis.

I'm sticking some money on the Panthers over the week, like I should have done with them 2 seasons back (I said they would beat the Rams & Eagles, but never put my money where my mouth was). Steve Smith had the most phenomenal game I have ever seen from a WR in the playoffs tonight, maybe even in my time watching the NFL (which, admittedly has only been 4 seasons).

And they would have, had Big Ben not saved the day.

The Panthers knew the Bears defense wasn't as invincible as everyone in this town seemed to think. They realized the big weakness was the cornerbacks, and they went straight for the jugular and never stopped. It was almost surreal in how they went about it while there was nothing the Bears could do to stop him.

Of course, putting Smith in single coverage without any safety help (esp. somebody like Tillmann) was a dumb move, and one they did little to change until it was too late. However, even in TRIPLE coverage and the condensed goalline, Smith was still able to get a crucial 2nd down catch on Chicago's 5 for about a 3-yard gain.

This is for you Billy:

Steve Smith after the game.

"I'm just really utilizing my talents," he said. "They throw me the ball, my job is to catch it. If I don't catch the ball, they will get somebody in here who will. I've got four people at home depending on me to do my job, so I can't come home with excuses. If you lined up my mama out there, I got to catch it over her, too."

Steelers vs Panthers for the SB. I think the Steelers will take it.

Broncos still get no respect. And I mean real no respect, not Tom Brady "my commercial is only on every five minutes and people call us one of the greatest teams ever" no respect. Stick it up yer Meeeeeechigan, Tommy!

It's championship Sunday. Pittsburgh currently has a 10-3 lead over Denver. I'm liking Carolina in the evening match.

Me too on Carolina... I got a real steal down at the bookies today (won €33 on the Pool match) because of their knowing so little about the NFL. Get this, they offer odds for the four teams to win the SB, as well as odds on which conference the SB-winning team will come from. I have a feeling the Panthers might be able to pull it off, so a €7.50 bet accumulator bet means I have effectively got 13/1 odds for the Panthers to win! I stuck €7.50 on and could get €100 back.

I'm switching over to the steelers-broncos match after I'm done with Lyon - Auxerre.
I hope the Steelers or Broncos go on to take it, I don't really like the seahawks nor the panthers.

That's unbelievable action. Why would professional bookies take bets on things they clearly know nothing about?

I'm just going by what I think will happen. I lose rooting interest in the NFL when my Iggles go out, which unfortunately was way too soon this season.

Jeebus!!! I stop paying attention for two seconds and Pittsburgh goes up 24-3 right before halftime.

I have absolutely no idea, but I am very happy about it. :D

I feel your pain... hopefully we get a defensive player to make an impact in the draft (or trade down and get 2), avoid the injuries we had this term next season, and McCarthy works out. Hopefully.

This is terrible. Seattle (or Carolina) versus Pittsburg might just make for the most boring Super Bowl ever. And that's saying a great deal. I was hoping for Indy versus Seattle. I don't have a dog in the hunt, but think that would have been the best/most interesting game.

Strangely, Pittsburg probably is playing the best in the NFL right now, despite barely making the playoffs and (imho) being no better than the 4th or 5th best team.* Sometimes you just get hot, I guess...

*I have nothing against Pittsburg, and like some of their players quite a bit.
