Will there be a void in 101 this coming June? I know Jamison previously received confirmation of USMNT tix for Germany. I got the good news this morning. Of course, we don't know yet what Metros games will be missed, because there's no schedule yet!
Who else is going?

Not I.
Why are you being shown on the USA Men: World Cup Fans sub-forum as having won tickets earlier from FIFA?
(Post by The Magpie)
"I came across some earlier information I saved from a few months back when a number of people won tickets in the various FIFA lotteries, and have added that information to the list below:

That was before I tried to wire the funds to FIFA. They got it late and rejected it back.

Wow. You are a world of hurt!
Sorry to learn this. I'll have them drop your name off the success list.

Chief Metro here got two tickets to the USMNT Semis. I think if they do not make it that far, I get a refund on my credit card. However, I would still like to go to the Semis. Anyway, I am in the FIFA lottery for 2 tickets to a Round of 16 and Quarterfinal match . . . keeping my fingers crossed.

I will be staying in Berlin from June 23 - July 12. I hope I can catch up with some of you guys there!

It's apparent several 'big guns' got nothing or conditional, non group stages. Since the process wasn't first-come first-serve, you can't help but be concerned over the support the team is going to have behind the goals. Either most of 'our' tickets went to sponsors and their sycophants or to a bunch of newbies and folks who have never traveled for the side. Yeah, I'm bitter! However, I'm not throwing in the towel yet since there's another FIFA round.

I've said this from the very beginning. Somehow, tickets should also be tied in to MLS support as well. (No, it's not practible, but, whatever.)

at least corey is going from what I understand.

I put in for three matches (all in Berlin), think the drawing will be on the 31st of this month. Plan to be in northern Germany for my honeymoon regardless.

Yeah, I did luck out early in May of 05 and got USA TST5, PK3. So if the US makes the quarters I'll be there until then, probably by myself in the nosebleeds, but I too wish everyone had tickets. For guys to go to Korea & Azteca and then get jacked for a dude in a budweiser shirt sitting on his hands is crap. It's no good if there are 10 US fans sitting 50 seats apart from each other.

Though, I shouldn't really be surprised. The USSF hosted the confederational championship (gold cup) and couldn't even be bothered to set aside a section for it's own fans. Honestly, it's enough to make you want to stop going to soccer games altogether. Overreaction? Sure, but for them to make it so hard for you to give them money is ridiculous. It's turned people off from MLS, and it will from the USMNT unless they get their act together.

It's up to USMNT fans, Sam's Army and the Fed to sit down and work out something for 2010. The USSF is like Jack Warner, without the veil of legitimacy.

Anyone else besides Jamison & me?
I seen elsewhere that Fina & Dmitri are SOL so far.
Kirwan? Flip? Manimal? Bueller?

Good luck to all of you guys getting tickets, you guys always bring it at US games and I'm hoping to see a bunch of you in Germany.

I didn't get tickets either, I'm probably gonna have to signing my firstborn child over to a broker. Either way I'll be there.

That said you can't tie it in to MLS support...it's a huge country and MLS clubs only exist in 11 cities. According to the 2000 census only about 80,000,000 people live in MLS metropolitan areas, well under 1/3 of the country's population (and that contains a very disproportionate number of non-US citizens).

They aren't tying it into MLS support, they are just talking about guys that support the nats who are also metro fans.

Manimal & Flip were in Korea & Azteca, among dozens of other games. Both got tickets for round of 16 & quarters only, but not first round.

Kirwan had tickets, or so I thought, but I don't know about anyone else. He's been to France, Korea, Mexico, Guat & back, and should in all reality be on the bench for these games.

The "metro" part has nothing to do with this discussion.

I was referring to TAF's post "Somehow, tickets should also be tied in to MLS support as well. (No, it's not practible, but, whatever.)" earlier, just pointing out that that isn't really possible. I don't know Manimal but Flip and Kirwan definitely deserve to be there and hopefully they'll get it worked out

You guys didn't get tix because the USSF is more concerned with getting a bigger bang for their buck by allotting them elsewhere, to sponsors and deal makers.

Those guys could care less that Manimal was literally the face of the USA fan during WC02, when he appeared in hundreds of newspapers around the world with his scarf held high, or that you guys are continually the heart of the crowd at USMNT matches.

What a shame.

You don't know jack either. Tickets should be tied into supporting the side. You know, 'merica? I'm tired of calling you out as the resident brownshirt, but damn the ignorance is astounding, astounding! Please just read and get back to us later. Your passion needs to be channeled for the cause.

Dude, relax. Someone suggested that tickets for a US game should be tied in to MLS support (but admitted that it's undoable), I merely added that the reason it's undoable is because a vast majority of Americans don't live in an MLS metropolitan area. I agree with you that if US tickets could somehow be tied to past support for the US, then that'd definitely worth doing, but tying it in to MLS support would punish people who don't live within driving distance of their MLS club or who don't have an MLS club because they don't leave near one (Rochester, for one, always sends a small but determined crew of guys to US games--should guys like Lukas and Mike be punished because the club they support doesn't happen to be in MLS??).

I didn't get tickets either so I'm in the same boat as most of you guys, probably gonna have to pay the ticket broker through my ass. Either way I'll definitely be in Gelsenkirchen on the 12th for my first US World Cup game ever and hopefully all of you guys will be able to make it as well, Metros fans are generally the best I've seen at US games and we'll be severely shorthanded unless at least most of you guys can make it. You guys are great fans and I wouldn't be in your forum if I didn't have a ton of respect for you. See you all, hopefully, in Germany.

Personally, I thought Flip was "The Man" in Korea!
I had always been a sidelines Metro fan from '94-'02, but after seeing the ESC guys in action in Korea, it's been 101 all the way!
If the USSF had a lick of sense, they would have spent the last 10 years identifying the superfans at each USMNT game (home & away) & each MLS/USL club (can't slight the Rochester & Minnesota guys!). Someone should have made personal contact with these people, inquired if they were planning on attending the World Cup (duh!) & ensured that they were able to buy tickets!
When you look at the photos of the 6 US fans in Guatemala & Dmitri & Kirwan are 2 of them, need you go further???

If people on BS know who these people are, why can't USSF figure it out?
