I almost feel bad for him. Almost.

He has to be lying about Beckham. Why the heck would Becks go to Aston Villa to win a title? He's got a much better chance winning one with Real Madrid next season when they have reinforced the team!

If Svennis have lied about this he's dead to me...

So owen is at Newcastle only because of the money and they’re paying him more than he got at Real.

So, where's the outrage at the tactics used by the News of the World?

It's almost as if the English tabloids are in a contest to see which one can take credit for destroying England's chances in Germany. The worst thing that could happen to them is an England victory. They'd sell a bunch of papers for a week or so, but if England drops out, the witchhunts - and paper sales - would continue for months, if not years.

I thought journalists were supposed to cover the news - not create it.

I don't believe that the News of the World is being completely honest here. The comments attributed to Sven just seem to sound exactly like they would if they were made up by a journalist.

You're right but you can't label these guys journalists.

Nah, they'll be completely true. I don't really mind we all knew he was going. It does come over as if Becks and Sven are absolute bum chums, which isn't good as far impartiality in team selections go, but still no surprise.

the media hates the players ,team and fans.
In fact alot of them hate football altogether .It aint just the tabloids.
They'll be the first ones to create crazy hype and then stick the knife in if the teams doesnt deliver .In germany they'll have camera's on every street corner hoping to turn every petty squabble into a "major riot" .They will try every possible stunt to sell papers.

So raise your hand if you would say no to a guy who told you he was really wealthy, wanted to buy a club, and pay you a ton to manage it...at some point in the future...

Even if you're thinking 'no way would I work for this dude' you still say you're interested, just to see if any offer comes about.

I'm shocked! Shocked to find gambling in this establishment.

Un-********ing-believable. Every time you think you've just about got to grips with what a bunch of gimlet-eyed tossers the tabloid media in this country are, they raise the bar to new levels.

So, they have set up an incredibly elaborate sting operation, no doubt at great expense to themselves, purely so that we can learn the following startling facts:

A.) Sven enjoys touting himself to other clubs, and is not very good at doing it in secret. Really?!

B.) David Beckham is not that chuffed with having won zero throphies at Real Madrid - astonishing!

C.) Sven thinks Rio Ferdinand is lazy and Rooney is a chav with a short fuse - shocker! We'd always assumed Sven was the only person who didn't think that.

D.) There are clubs Owen would rather be at than Newcastle. Will the revelations never stop?

In fact, the only new information here at all was that David Beckham would consider playing for Aston Villa within a year - which, quite frankly, I don't believe.

And for this mouth-watering titbit, they have undermined the managers' relationship with the England team as well as the relationship between at least two key players and their clubs. And all, to quote the first line of their own drooling article "at a time when the Swede should be focused on vital team preparations...".

This ********s me right off. I don't give a sh!t whether Sven is looking for a new job after the World Cup. Given the amount of calls there were for his sacking only 3 or 4 months ago, I'd be astounded if he wasn't. I couldn't give a crap whether he will be our manager after the summer - if we win it, then fair enough, good job and good luck. If we don't, let's get the next guy in. Whatever. Doesn't matter. All that matters is this competition. And these absolute 'tards have gone to unbelievable lengths to tear down whatever chance we had.

They are a plague on this country.

Well written. The simple but elusive fix is to simply not buy their papers and not visit their sites.

Great stuff, you are right of course. Then again, why are the British media so bad? Because they know it sells. So what do you suggest? Get rid of freedom of speech, or get rid of the idiots who buy this kind of rubbish? Why don't you get this kind of crap in say, France then? Are they on average better educated, maybe? It's pretty naive to think the media are bad just because they are evil by design. What's makes the British media bad is the culture they reflect. Exactly the same is true in Germany btw, if you don't believe me read Bild. Well, it might be marginally better, but not much.
