Today in San Jose, a mad baseball fan took over the new City Hall building demanding a baseball team in this city, or he would burn the place down. No word yet from the police on who this suspect is and even if this was a hostage situation. The San Jose City Council unaware of the situation continued their session behind closed doors. The mayor, or his secretary at this time could not be reached. The man inside also demanded food and clothing. To keep the man as calm as possible, authorities have excepted several donations. SJPD is not taking his demands seriously, but the thought of his threats caused a quick response from our SJFD. Not to be outdone, San Jose Earthquake fans, who just happened to be there, donated 365 gallons of gasoline, 65 Bic lighters, 30 cartons of cigarettes and a few cases of Jack Daniels.

Here's some SJ news that sucks (http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/13623008.htm), at least for people who go to Spartan football. (Ha-ha! Eat a bag of dicks, Spartan Shops.)

I think the income from beer at Spartan was a greater part of Spartan Shops than that SJSU president is trying to say. He amazes me. He paints everything the color he wants to see.

The article said the ban is for "CSU athletic events", so I am sure AEG will still be able to sell their over priced beer at the HDC.

I am sure Kassing is not including money made from alcohol sales at Quakes games since they are no longer here, (and the Quakes games would not have been included in the ban anyway) so, there is a kernel of truth to what he is saying. They are only losing sales from 5 football games and a few other sparsely attended events.

Neither of BC's on-campus venues (Alumni Stadium for football, Conte Forum for hockey and hoops) sells alcohol either. This is why God gave us iced tea bottles and made whiskey the same color as iced tea.

Bingo. Airline bottles have been a staple of my attendance at Stanford events for years.

The policy is specifically for intercollegiate events.

Well if you need a alcoholic buzz before watching Spartan football, there's still tailgating, right? Everyone knows they overcharge you inside the stadium anyway.
As a Sacramento State alum, I know a microbrewery or two up here in Sactown who will be pretty disappointed at this decision by the CSU, as they seem to do half-decent business even at our sparsely attended football games. (Lord knows you need a strong buzz to watch Sac State football... pun intended. Go Hornets! :p )

No beer at >
Fresno St.? But their fans live in...Fresno! San Diego St.?? It's friggin' San Diego St., fer God's sake!! Sobriety and CSU ball? Boooooooo!
Spartans? New possibilities for thoroughly wasted fans to storm into Spartan Stadium just before kickoff, especially with the athletic dept.'s push to get 'em all riled up about keeping their exciting team's D-1 status, with loads of screaming students who care a lot. Second half = group burnout.

First the loss of the Quakes and now this? It basically makes no sense. All I know is what I have been trying to say all along the revenues will keep going south. The money generated from both Quakes and SJSU football is slowly all going away. Soon they will not have either one , SJSU will probably drop football and with the Quakes gone, SJSU, Spartan shops or whomever will lose out!
