Pearce looking at Jansen
By James Pearson - Created on 12 Jan 2006
Matt Jansen has been offered the chance to resurrect his career after being given the opportunity to train with Manchester City.
Just a day after being released from the remainder of his six-month contract with Blackburn, Jansen has pitched up in Manchester.
Jansen, who has been linked with a host of clubs in January, was once called up to the England squad before an accident curtailed his career.
Pearce is desperate to bolster his numbers and is keen to run the rule over Jansen, who can operate out wide left and up front.
"We have to be interested in any good player that becomes available," explained Pearce. "Matt will be training with us today.
"We will have a look at him and see what the situation is. At this stage it is impossible to say what will happen."
Meanwhile, City have given young Costa Rican winger Cristian Bolanos another chance to secure a Premiership move.
The 21-year-old has been released by Liverpool following a trial at Anfield, but that has not deterred Pearce.
Bolanos initially caught the eye of Reds boss Rafa Benitez after impressing in the Fifa World Club Championship in Japan.
Should Bolanos secure a favourable impression then City will likely need to pay around £500,000 to secure his services permanently.
