Please rate us, Crimen y Castigo and obie, on how we moderated the Music, TV and Movies forum in 2005.

These polls have been created at the request of the BigSoccer Admins in an effort to improve our community and clarify our newly revised community guidelines for the coming year. Please be honest, civil, and fair in your responses. After one week, we will attempt to respond and address your comments.

Please use the thread as an opportunity to provide feedback. Please note all comments are public intentionally. Your vote, however, will not be public. Your comments can address both the way the board is moderated and the way individual Mods moderate. The Mods will not respond for 7 days.

Crimen y Castigo's statement:
I have been a Mod in this forum for about a year, I’ve been a member of BigSoccer since 1999, I changed Big Soccer screen names in 2004 as I was assuming a false identity to avoid federal prosecution on tax evasion, I was at the first LA Galaxy match, I’ve stood with Sam’s Army numerous times, I’m no longer carded at bars, but I no longer go to bars since I have a kiddo. One of those statements might not be true.

Obie's statement:
I've been here forever, at least in BigSoccer terms, having joined in 1998 when this site was still MetroFan.com. I've modded MTVM for the past year, succeeding the brilliant mighty well-connected Footix (http://www.extrawack.com) (NOTE: shameless pandering to Bob). My philosophy toward modding here is laissez-faire, except for spammers, who I kill with my bare hands. I'm proud to be the mod of the greatest, most diverse, most spiritually nourishing board on BigSoccer (NOTE: shameless pandering to the rest of you). I'm presently employed as an IRS auditor in the greater Oakland region. Thank you for your consideration.

A rated you guys "A".

The forum is among my favorites on the site-lots of tips/info on music and film.

If I had one suggestion, it would be to create a sub-forum or sticky to be used as a place to post reviews, concert notices, links to podcasts, interviews, etc. Not a place to debate, but a place to drop info or links on subjects of interest. "The Random Thoughts..." thread kind of serves this purpose, but I think something a little more cleaner that is more of a daily reference tool might be better.

As I've said before, I don't know of any other discussion board that is as tolerant of other people's opinions of music and movies as this one. People post about Arctic Monkeys, American Idol and musical theater in the same place without anyone crapping on anyone elses opinions (most of the time). That's great. If being laissez-faire has fostered that environment, keep up the good work.

I gave it an "A" because I've never noticed the moderators being moderators. I've run my own forums for almost 10 years and the sign of a good moderator is forum users that don't constantly talk about the moderators :)

I gave it an "A" because I've never noticed the moderators being moderators. And more than that, I have never noticed a moment where I thought "Gee, I wish the moderators were here".

A

No doubt about it, this is a good place to be and obie and C y C are among the primary reasons why.

An A for all the reasons mentioned above. It's a great place.
Intelligent, interesting, and respectful discussion. (*hats off*)

I've always admired Obie & CyC's work here, ever since I joined BigSoccer back in 1978 as Moderator of the Chicago Sting forum.

Where else on BigSoccer can you find not one, but two, pro-war, openly gay, Pacific Islander fans of Creed?

Nowhere.

That's why these guys are awesome.

After surfing thru the shark infested waters of the Politics forum, I come here for a cool drink and some cool tunes. Great job by both obie and C y C.

Repped.

There wasn't an A+ option in the poll, but if there was, you guys would get it.

Man, I wish you came around here more often. Other than that, I have no complaints about this place. Except that I wish there was a hot indie guys thread.

I can tell there's at least one poster who's not voted as there's no "F". One guess who that is...............

Except that I wish there was a hot indie guys thread.Indie guys all have bad haircuts and the glasses really aren't that flattering, when you get right down to it. Add in the fact that there's no such thing as muscle mass in the indie world (everyone's either anorexic or pudgy) and the pickings as far as attractive indie guys go are slim.

You both suck, but I couldn't shake the feeling you deserved an "A". Well done... ;)

I gave an A. The topics are usually interesting and all of you do a good job of not letting off topic stuff bleed in.....especially politics.
