Okay, really no implications for DC directly, but for Brian Carroll. Pablo is excellent, maybe even competitive on a world level, but now BC gets more time with the top flight. As PM is out 6-8 weeks, expect more time for Brian in the upcoming qualifiers.

We shall see if this puts him in line for Germany. Good for him. Bad (sort of) for us.

Brian and Benny both.

Let's see: Players for the Nats who could play d-mid and are now injured:

JOB, Reyna, Pablo, Rico Clark, Armas, Mulrooney.

Either that spot is a reoccurance of the drummers chair in Spinal Tap or the latest call-in, Kerry Zavagnin, should be plenty worried.

No Reyna, no Pablo, no Clark - very good chance for Carroll to impress.

Maybe Zavagnin is doing a Tonya Harding?:D

He has actually been one of the more impressive players thus far from what I have seen.

This is good news in that it isn't a devastating injury for Mastroeni while it gives BC a chance.

Mostly, I'm responding to give your avatar a big thumbs up.

Torn quad? Ouch. Could end up being problematic.

I'm happy that BC has a chance to get a longer look, but as a US fan I really hope Mastroeni is 100% for the WC. He's the most underrated player on the team...

If you listen carefully you can hear the LAGal's supporters heads exploding b/c Herculez has still not gotten a call.

US Soccer has seemed to have forgotten Tino, or how to count.

Zavagnin is the fourth Wizards player to be called in, joining Jimmy Conrad, Chris Klein and Josh Wolff. Boswell is also the fourth D.C. United player called in to join Freddy Adu, Brian Carroll and Ben Olsen.

Better he's forgotten after he's in camp than before

Especially when you consider that 3 out of 5 United players in camp aren't regular starters.

Somewhat agree here... I've torn my right quad (kicking leg) pretty badly before, during a practice sprint , and it took me a full 8 or 9 weeks before I could really run full out on it and then an additional 2-3 weeks before I could kick field goals beyond 20-25 yards with any accuracy. Fortunately the tear happened in late May (right after soccer season), and I had the entire summer to heal before football practice started up in August.

Of course, Pablo's going to have far superior rehab conditions than I had so he'll probably be back far faster than three months. The thing is that I really couldn't do ANYTHING except let the muscle heal for about 8 weeks. But after about the middle of the third month, I've never had any problems with it since (pain, soreness, or otherwise).

How do you get three - if healthy I consider Q, Carroll, and Olsen all starters. Which of the three are you excluding?

So far, no explosions, but it's sooo interesting over there with people's reaction's to mastro's injury. Folks are racking their brains out thinking of any d-mid who could play (O'Rourke, Logan Pause, etc)- any other than Carroll or Olsen. I think when we see Carroll especially start the next several friendlies folks will go ape ********.

Tino's one that I kinda waivered on. He's wasn't exactly a sure fire starter. Though with Eski out, he made a solid argument that he should be.

Even still 2/5 of our contingent aren't regular starters, and that'll get some folks riled up.
