Pretty good season opener. The Forrest Whitaker character seems like a freaky dude ready to cause some serious trouble. He seems as much a slimeball as Acevedo and is ready to bring Vic down.

Lem seems to be in deep as he was busted for the heroine and they want to nail him for intent to sell. They're going to try to get to Vic through Lem and causing division within the team.

Pretty chaotic police department as there is no real chief and the interim is clueless. Julian's new partner is a gorgeous and is starting to play it up. the way she walked out of the changing room after work in a mini skirt turned a lot of heads ....

First time I can recall Ronnie beat the crap out of somebody as he did it for vengeance.

I'm pretty psyched about the new season ...

I love the show. Just with they would delve more into the Ronnie and Lem characters. This is the fifth season and I do not know Ronnie's last name, nor Lem's first name.

Good episode last night. The Whittaker character (Kavanaugh) got Lem to wire up and try to impicate Vic in the killing of the undercover agent. Acevedo helped out in trying to intimidate Lem into doing this. Lem was able to get into a scuffle with Vic and "accidentally" tears off the hidden mic and warns Vic that he is being coerced into doing this. Kavanaugh keeps trying to find out all he can about Mackey and even visits his kids school where he tries to make friends with Vic's (ex) wife. I like the way Whittaker plays the character.

I was really hoping that the strike team would discover the wire at some point. That would have made for some serious drama. It'll be interesting how this plays out though.

OK -- so I just watched the premier on tape but I totally missed the second episode. Can folks fill me in?

I gather from above that Kavanaugh gets Lem to wear the wire, but then he pulls it off and tells Vic about it???

Anything else happen? Like with that new latina cop? Or with the black/brown riots?

Thx.

(TelevisionWithoutPity does not have a section on The Sheild, which I find pretty odd.)

First off with Kavanaugh he figures out that Lem didn't know that Vic actually killed the undercover IA guy in season 1.

Lem doesn't believe him but is convinced to wear a wire to ask Vic. While he's being holed by Kav and Veda the Strike Team is trying to catch a dude who killed 3 people.

After they catch him they figure they probably can't get away. By this time Lem is back with them and they're about to talk about just taking him to Tiajuana for the cops there to just put him away Lem fakes sick and leaves so they aren't on tape.

It's later that Lem asks Vic if the guy was really killed by the bad guys in season 1. Vic of course denies doing anything then Lem pushes him so they grapple and he can disconnect the wire. Then he explains to what's been happening but he obviously doesn't believe Vic about the bad guys killing him.

So now the Strike Team knows they're being looked at and Lem has to decide if he still wants to stick with his guys.

Latina cop and gay black cop have to break up a domestic disurbance and she pulls a guy away who hits her. She beats his ass down with her night stick and GBC (who is training her) gets pissed that she wouldn't have had to if she had been following proper procedures. She complains to the pregant cop who trained Julian and preggers then has a talk with him to do a better job training.

Not much really with the riots.

That's what I remember off the top of my head.

I didn't that know black cop was gay. Is he out to the rest of the station?

That latina is clearly in for some trouble. I kinda don't buy her character: her dressing up in the station house like she was going out clubbing seemed really unbelievable for some reason. Not that I've ever hung out in police locker rooms -- but she just seems way too immature.

As I typed that I was wondering if I'd think thing the same thing if it was a young male cop getting dressed up to go out -- and I probably wouldn't. So there ya go.

That was a big plot point in season 2. He got a lot of hell from people in the station but never came out and rumors were always swirling.

Instead he found God, repressed himself and got married IMO to "prove" he isn't gay. He also had anger issues surrounding this. I'm sure this will all come back up at some point as well.

Decent episode last night. They were trying to uncover a sex smuggling/prostituion ring where a couple of people were found dead. The new female cop at one point was used as a decoy. Appearantly she got to give out another beating this week trying to defend herself. Vic started getting information on Kavanaugh, the Internal Affairs who is after him. Both Lem and Vic's ex-wife were able to identify him from pictures. They were able to find out that Kavanaugh does not have a a kid going to the same school where Vic's kid is going and where he has been trying to get information about him through Vic's ex-wife. Mackey is trying to find out all he can about Kavanaugh as much as Kavanaugh is trying to find out about him. The episode ended with Kavanaugh and Vic meeting each other knowing that they are feeling each other out. Drama and tension.

The heat is turning up !!!! The strike team is trying to figure out who leaked out that Lem had taken a kilo of heroine and put it in his car. The two suspects were Victorio and his girlfriend. Vic wanted to believe that it was Victorio and they went out looking for im. Turns out he died in a drug deal in El Salvador. That left Vic's informant. Kavanaugh is now suspecting that Vic knows about the investigation and has her moved to a safe house. After finally tracking her down and seeing that Kavanaugh has dropped her off, Vic confronts her and she confesses that she is the one who ratted out Lem. Not only that, she says that she has been working with Internal Affairs for six months, but before she really got to know him. This enfuriates Vic as he feels betrayed and as he has a knife to her throat, he says "if you go away, the investigation goes away." Just as you think that he's going to get rid of her, Kavanaugh walks in the house and sees Vic talking to her. Both question each other as to why they are there and she ends up lying for Vic. Last scene is Vic looking at Kavanaugh as he is heading out the door.

other stories:

- the woman layer who appeared last show in helping crack the kid trafficking/prostitution ring is is now helping Vic with legal counsel in the internal affairs investigation against the strike team (after some convincing by Vic in saying that he is a scapegoat and that the problems start at the top.)

- The tensions and problems between Julian and his rookie partner are getting worst.

- Dutch is really starting to suspect that Claudette is sick and is starting to snoop around.

-Vic's ex-wife approaches Dutch for advice after she funds out Kavanaugh is Internal Affairs as she wants to know how to handle the situation. There's a couple scenes afterwards where at work, Dutch looks at Vic and the strike team members very suspiciously.

Next weeks episode looks exciting as the trailers had Kavanaugh get Vic on tape for possibly committing a crime ...

Great summary, sangreazul. I would like to add one thing. When Vic has the knife to her neck, he hears a noise outside, perhaps a car door closing. Before Kavanaugh walks in, Vic tells the informant that since he found her this time, he will be able to find her again. When she lies for Vic, she is doing it out of fear that he will indeed find her again and finish the job.

That scene at the end was incredible last night. Really, really awesome.
