Let's have some fun with our ideas. Put yourself on record- who do you think is Germany bound? Doesn't make a difference what reason you have: could be a hunch or minutely sussed out. Once the final announcement is made in the spring, I'll bring back this thread and we can have a chuckle or grimace about out choices. We'll see who was the most accurate among us.
The players here are all thought to be on the bubble, at least according to some posters here. If there are any players missing- my apologies. I only have so many slots to put in players. Vote for as many as you want.

As much as I like Eddie Pope, I think that if it comes down to the last defensive spot to pick, I'd rather have Jimmy Conrad in that role. He's been far healthier and far more consistent over the past two or three years. Both are great organizers and are well positioned, but Conrad is more vocal. Now, if Eddie were to be 100% (and had been for a few months) at the time of selection, then I'd say pick him if his speed hasn't dropped off too much.

I have an answer, but before I plug it in, I need some clarification.
Am I to assume John O'Brien is healthy or not healthy for the World Cup? because that directly impacts my guess on what Bruce Arena will do (not what I'd do though)

Just vote. There are a million different scenarios and injuries are going to happen. If you think JOB will be there, then vote accordingly. IF not, not.

I made the assumption he'd healthy...which is why I did NOT vote for Brian Carroll

Yeah, as Martin basically said, "Who knows? Vote now."
I put these polls up now- before we find out more info like who plays in the friendlies and how JOB is doing, etc.

It's so hard to say right now, but I think Pearce will prove he's better than Spector at left back and he'll be going and Spector will be at home.
I think Lewis might end up on the bench unfortunately, because Convey's form has probably pushed him ahead of Lewis, and if Pearce turns out to be as good a left back as my hunch leads me to believe, Lewis is going to be a sub. He'll play, but he won't start. Which is too bad, because Lewis is possibly the best crosser the US has.

I voted for TimHo, Berhalter, Pearce and Hejduk.
Did I vote for Spector too?

I voted for Frankie , Chris Albright , and Brian Carrol , because as of right now , were running low in defensive mid. But I think Chris will go because he is a consistent player and is improving, and Frankie because he is an old vet. Yeah they both play a similar position , but Chris can be moved around...

Bruce has a lot of memories with Edie Pope & Hejduk so, they must've been in BA plan for Germany.

Yes you did Mr. Sitter. I hope Bruce gives Jonathan some time as a DM ... though I doubt .. so that's the least likely selection ...

I can't believe 29% think Pearce will be there.

Perhaps the better insight to be gained is that Pearce is (rightfully) behind Hejduk, Spector and Albright on the depth chart at this point, which means not only that he's not going, but that he needs to leap two, maybe three, people in order to go.

I voted for him because he has looked good in the very limited action I've seen. And he's a Bundesliga quality left back (I think K'slautern tried to sign him), and the USMNT has no left backs, essentially. He's lightning fast, and he's in this camp so he has time to impress.
It is all based on potential, of course. But even if he turns out to be not as good as he seems, he might still be a better option than an inexperienced and error-prone (from my observations) Spector, an out of position Bocanegra or Lewis.
I rate him pretty high, particularly because of his speed (possible the fastest player on the team from what I hear) and also because he is an experienced left back. The friendlies will of course determine entirely how realistic my opinions are of him, and I reserve the right to fully change my mind after he plays in his first friendly at left back so I can see him in a real game.

For a second there I was wondering who the hell voted for Dunivant, but then I saw that the voter, pweakland, voted for everyone. Great job pweakland.

The trend grows stronger: with 6 fewer votes than the offensive players, Tim-may is just dominating the voting in a way that Sir Alex could only hope he could dominate EPL strikers. But beyond that Heydude and The Beer Man are also well ahead of the leading Offensive guy, the ever-loved, Josh Wolff. Surprisingly good showing for The Beer Man IMO.
But here's where the trend is getting even stronger: His Holiness has pulled into a tie with the 2nd and 3rd Offensive types Chris "Speedy" Rolfe and Clint "Dreamboat" Dempsey. AND The Pride Of Charlton has also caught up. It's as if BS is much clearer on the defensive players.

The Beerholder situation intrigues me,
assuming full health:
Steve Cherundolo
Eddie Lewis
Oguchi Onyewu
Cory Gibbs
Carlos Bocanegra
all locks.
which probably leaves on Fullback spot, and one center back position, Spector vs Berhalter vs Pope.(1) Spector vs Hejduk vs Albright. (2)
Before, Arena basically admitted to Pope being a lock. Unless he's planning on bringing 5 Center backs, I don't see how Berhalter gets in
