I was wondering how many people will stay during the world cup in
Cologne/Düsseldorf
or in Rhine Area?
If you need any information, let me know.
Maybe we can organize some meeting of US fans there.
Well I´m German but I support both USA and Germany.
Hope we get many US fans here.

We have a villa in Weiden, about 15k north of Idar-Oberstein. I think that is around 80k south of Koln right?

We (4 couples) rented a villa, a converted farm complex, in the countryside that sleeps 20. It only has four bedrooms, though, a sleeping loft, kitchen, 3 baths, and a large communal room/eating area with cable TV. We booked it almost two years ago to nail down a good price. We're planning a lot of day trips to check out the castles, nature, and wine country, all very close.
We have many friends in Germany who will be visiting us and if any of you BSers are in the area please drop by the American Compound.

My wife and I will be spending our first two days in Germany, June 11-13 in Cologne. We will be taking the train from Cologne to Gelsenkirchen for the game on June 12. I believe the two cities are fairly close.
Everything I have read says that Cologne is a great city so I am looking forward to our visit there. :)

My wife and I are staying at the Hotel Berial in Dusseldorf for three days surrounding the first match, and we may end up there again if the US makes the second round (game that's in Dortmund).

wow one of moderators will stay in Düsseldorf. You have choosen city of elegance and fashion. They have great old town and from Düsseldorf to Cologne it is only 30 minutes car driving or better you take a train.
I think area of Düsseldorf and Cologne is really very beautiful.
P.S don´t forget if you are in Düsseldorf, don´t say so much Cologne is great and don´t drink Kölsch (beer from Cologne) because Düsseldorf and Cologne are rival cities probably like Holland and Germany in soccer:). So visit both
and compare yourself. You will enjoy both cities. I´m sure.

yes cool name...it is something for young people: cheap and good but very simply. But for soccer it is o.k. Düsseldorf. Jugendgerberge is something like
youth hostel, accomodation for young people. Will you visit all games of USMNT?

One thing I noticed after booking the villa is that there is an "American Theme" bar in Daun. I guess its owned by the guy who owns the villas. Im going to have to check it out just to see what an "American Bar" is. I read that they play american music and server some beers? Not like I want to drink american beer while in germany :p
The eifel region looks really pretty. Plus this trip is part Soccer part Honeymoon. Arent I the luckiest.
