How do you reconcile the fact that there are a huge number of people that don't agree with your religion. That is, you are a member of a given religion, but you know that many others don't share your views. In fact, sometimes, others may think you are going to hell, unless you believe in their religion.
I go with the many paths theory that states that each of us is different, and it would be unlikely that one religion fits all.

Unless you accept our lord Jesus Christ as your lord and savior you are going to hell.

How do you reconcile the fact that there are a huge number of people who don't agree with anything you believe, whether it is politics, religion, or even who are the best soccer players of all time? Obviously there are many different ideas, or paths, but in any discussion, religious or not, if people have a strong opinion it is because they probably believe that they are right, that their path is the right one.
Let's be thankful for many paths. The world would be a boring place if we all believed the same. Arguing is fun. And I argue because I know I am right. :D

The priest at my Catholic church this Sunday gave a homily stressing that The Vatican genuinely believes in the "many paths" idea... or at least it has for the last 40 years, since the Second Vatican Council.
On hearing that, my conservative Catholic mom almost had a heart attack. :D

What sucks worse is folks believing you're going to "hell" when you don't believe there is such a place, simply because you do believe in the religion you believe.

...there's an invisible man...living in the sky...who watches everything you do, every minute of every day.
And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.
And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever, 'til the end of time...
But He loves you. He Loves you.
He loves you...and He needs money...

Can you elaborate? I think we are saying the same thing. Are we?

Yeah, we are. I'm just tailoring it for my own religion. 'Cause it's one thing to be damned to a place you believe exists, but a whole other level of damnation to have to go somewhere you don't believe exists.

If you believed in the place, you would adopt beliefs so that you didn't need to go there, but if you don't believe in the place, then you don't adopt the beliefs that could keep you out.
It's the mother of all Catch-22's.

If that whole 'no one comes to the Father but through Me" thing turns out to be a show-stopper, then yeah, I'm pretty much @#$%ed. Otherwise, I'm claiming the non-belief exemption.

Vatican 2 is a causing some serious conflict right now in Catholic theological circles. Papa Ratzi is apparently not a fan at all.

Excuse my ignorance, I thought you were Catholic. Isn't that belief part of Catholic theology as well?

Hey, the caveats are necessary because I'm simulatneously shielding them from the Atheists and questioning the more deeply religious of their bend.
To answer hgold: I was raised a devout Episcopalian, as my father was an Episcopal priest (who converted from Roman Catholicism, as did my mother). Episcopalians believe their denomination to be Catholic, often referring to themselves as "Anglo-Catholics", which along with my ancestral heritage, gives me a great affinity for the Romans. However, for the last several years I've been a devout Pagan, leaning toward the Celtic reconstructionists, but not really fitting in any basket of neo-Paganism (ie Wicca, Druidism, Shamanism, Norse, etc). We're a notoriously closed group, so I've not done a whole lot of "testifying" beyond this and one post on one other thread.
