I'm going to London and Amsterdam at the end of the month and wanted to go to some good music stores; records, cds, whatever. Does anyone have suggestions as to really good stores I shouldn't miss?

Thanks,
GP

In London:

Rough Trade
Sister Ray
Select a disc isn't bad.

Depends on what you are looking for though

I figured...I'm into just about anything except hardcore electronica. I don't do the dance stuff but i'll listen to it occasionally.

I've been to the store underneath Slam City Skates in Camden...that is a place I'd like to go to. Thanks for your help, Placid!

That's in Neal's Yard near Covent Garden, not Camden. Was there a couple weeks ago and hit their little blow-out table hard. The people who work there are the coolest.

Theres a couple of decent shops on Camden High St on the way to Kentish town, can't think of the names at the moment.

Can't think of anything new to add to previous posts except you may (if you haven't already) want to try Ray's Jazz on Charing Cross Road. It's part of Foyles the bookstore and has a small selection of CD's and new and second hand vinyl. Entrance through Foyles or from the street opposite Borders.

some decent live off stuff on whilst your over:-

Take the Colonel's advice. He gave me a list of spots in London a few years ago and they were all great.

Well, as long as UK music types are in one place...

Ive been trying for years to find a copy of a late '70s punk album. Ill pay for a burn cd of

The Pork Dukes 'Pink Vinyl'

The cover was plain white with a postcard of a pig in Wellington boots. The disc was actualy pink.

I found a shallow bad recent release of lesser material called 'Kum Kleen' but 'Pink Vinyl' is the Pork Dukes finest creation.

Anyone know of it?

or I could just go to the Virgin Megastore in Times Square 22 blocks away ;) :D

Seriously though I appreciate everyone's advice...I'd rep you but don't think there is a point to it anymore.
