With Trinidad & Tobago's qualification, they become the 10th team in CONCACAF to participate in the World Cup Finals, joining the list of Mexico, USA, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Cuba, Haiti, Honduras, Canada, and Jamaica.
Guatemala are obviously favorites, but could someone like St. Vincent/Grenadines make it before they do? Will we see the 11th team go to South Africa in 2010 or will it be longer than that?

Does it matter? Either way when we eventually send one of the teams on the list it will be their first time ever.

Well one might ask if under the existing 32 team and thus limited concacaf representation, there is a chance of any other team than usa, mex, cr, hond, cuba, haiti, jamaica, el salv or trinidad qualiying
and to be honest it was more to do about the 2010 question...

the only team that really scares me is surinam, since soon they will be able to have dual citizenship, so player with surinam ancestry who play in the dutch league and aren't good enough to make holland will be able to play for surinam , and become a concacaf power over night.
but honestly i think guatemala will be the 11th but should of been the 10th and the only team to have a better chance too get ahead of guate is panama
st vincent is horrible no way they go ahead of guatemala

I see four teams that might get added to the list; Guatamala and Panama are the logical choices. Cuba and Puerta Rico could do something if they ever take the sport serious.

Good points. I have read that Surinam are working on Project 2014 (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7064623&postcount=3) in which they are hoping to qualify for, obviously, the 2014 World Cup which will be played just south of them, in Brazil. This new law will certainly help them.

Eventually, even if it's in like 40 years, someone new will make it.

Cuba has already qualified for a World Cup (1938). They didn't do too bad. They tied Romania 3-3 and then won 2-1 in the "replay" (since there were no PKs back then). Then they got destroyed 8-0 by Sweden. In fact they were the third ever CONCACAF team to play in a World Cup. Only USA and Mexico were before them (both making their debuts in 1930).

Oops. If I would have re-read your starting post I wouldn't be a little red faced now.

Look out for 2010 :>
I don't understand some of the logistics used previous postings. If Guatemala was cut short this time because of MANY MANY factors that have already been said in previous forums (which worked against Guatemala) then why wouldn't they be a good canidate for 2010. IMO, the 3rd and potentially 4th spots will be a race between Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Jamaica.

well, Panama is probably the most improved squad in Concacaf, dismal HEX performance.. but I think we will do better next time around.. pending we make it to the HEX
