I think they're awesome. Anyone agree?

Not really my cup of chow, although some of my mates love them. I saw them live at the Oxegen music festival last summer and they were utter shite, mind you (although they were apparently a lot better the year before, when it wasn't hot enough to give me a sunburn that has since scarred over on my shin). Their ballads are useless, but a few of their album songs are good - and 'Fit But You Know It' was a funny track back in '04.

There alright if you like that kind of thing.

I'm just waiting for them to do 'Only Fools and Horses: The Musical'

You know, Mike Skinner really does piss me off sometimes...

To be honest the only tracks I have ever liked is the remixes of certain songs.

Although I find 'Let's Push Things Forward' more digestable than the others...

I saw them at Reading 2004 and I didn't think too much of them. The only song that was any good live was 'Fit but you know it'.

I thought "A Grand Don't Come for Free" was the best album of 2004. I saw The Streets in Boston and the show was great.

Turn The Page was a great track.

I think we all pretty much agree they were great....A year and a half ago.

Not impressed with them at all. I can understand why some people might like them, but in all honestly they are pretty poor in terms of everything.

They have their moments, but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to them. In mitigation for the poor Oxegen showing, it has to be said that that was one of the hottest days I can remember in recent years - no one (including me) possessed the physical ability to get excited about anything. That said, Mike Skinner was a knob and couldn't whip up any enthusiasm, which I suppose is part of his job.

True, due to a lack of sun-lotion going around our group I have some small scars from the burns on my shins. The medics wouldn't give me anything for the pain since I was hammered and the pikeys working the stalls were charging €25 for After Sun. I was pretty lucky that a friend's g/f had VIP access and was able to get me some moisturiser and two ice-packs since it got so bad by sunset that I couldn't walk. All I can say is thank God I just about caught the last Sunday night bus and was home by 2.30am (and the camp stunk of shite because of the whole hay solution to the rain on Friday night... why not just let us have a mudfest?)

At least you got home. The wait on Monday morning for the bus (in, again, exacerbating heat) and resulting stuffy sauna-esque non-ventilated cramped four-hour journey home was one of the most painful experiences of my life...although in fairness the preceding night which you missed (fuelled by post-James Brown love of everything) was fantastic. I love the campsite. By the sounds of it I didn't get scorched anywhere nearly as severely as you (fell asleep?), but still managed to burn myself fairly badly - and that was with suncream - and since I had to spend seven hours the next day and every day for the rest of that hot summer on a beach lifeguarding it took a while to heal.

I wish. My first Witnness in 2001 was mud city. Not as wet as Glastonbury this year, but wet enough to turn everything semi-liquid. So. Much. Fun.

We were in B6, right under the watchtower (which was great when someboy blared Hendrix' version of All Along the Watchtower at sunrise on either Saturday or Sunday morning when it was really misty). Other than that, some girl from Donegal (my lord you northies know how to show up in numbers!) still has my Neil Young (Best of) & Modest Mouse (Moon & Antarctica) albums!

I would have liked to have caught Sunday night if I could have, but I had a HUGE bag since I brought down 10l of vodka & red bull, 2 crates of beer, a disposable grill, tent, sleeping bag and some clothes. And yes, I fell asleep in the camp B carpark (did you catch the Saturday night madness there, btw?) from about 10am-2pm on Sunday, with my legs in the sun for a bit of it.

Fun.My first one was only the year before last - wish I had gone to Witnness '03, but oh well. That smell was honestly stuck in my nostrils until Thursday, though. Yack!

Original Pirate Material is a great album. A Grand Don't Come for Free is good if you listen to it all the way through, because Skinner is an excellent songwriter. But none of the individual tracks on it really stand out.
