Mike Hanke want to much in a short time.

He`s a very good talent, but he`s not patient to get a superstar.

What will happen in Germany if they don't qualify for the final 16 or even make it to the final 8?

I love Klinsmann, but this German team clearly isn't a top 4 team in the world and will have a difficult time, even if playing at home. Will Germans go crazy and burn a city down? Will lots of them jump in the Rhine or Donau and let themselves float away? Will they attack Poland?

last option :D

Hey, it just is like that. If you don't already have a superstar, you won't get one either. Those pumps and pills just don't work...

My Dortmund buddy got me a ticket for Germany-USA!-USA!-USA! on March 22. We will be in block 88 for 25 beans. Who else will be there.

a couple of names not really mentioned yet (well, hanke was), but in addition to him, what about lauth and florian kringe? he could play on the left or in central midfield and is a solid performer... although i would take kehl over him for sure and given the midfield surplus, there might not be enough place for him...
he had a very good last season, but not sure how hes been doing this year?

i really would like to see kehl, kringe, hanke and lauth make the squad... they will be hungry to prove themselves at the top level...

Lauth has been very, very poor this season, and he would be a long shot to make the squad IMHO. He's a very talented player, but he has performed below his potential. Hanke's also struggled this year, and the fact that he will miss the first 2 games through suspension might make it tougher for him to make the squad. Klose, Podolski and Kuranyi should be locks for 3 of the 4 forward positions (assuming Klinsi takes 4). With the current lack of decent options after those 3, there is a good chance one of these 2 (or perhaps Kiessling) will make the sqaud.

Kehl should absolutely make the squad, and start as DM IMO.

Kringe would be a long shot as well. He's a good player, but the options in central and left mid (Ballack, Borowski, Schweinsteiger, Frings (in the middle) and perhaps Jansen (if he's moved to a more attacking role ala Gladbach)) are better candidates ATM.

Lack of decent options? Brdaric has 8 goals so far, Neuville 7. Both have been way better than Lauth and Hanke, who just sucked. Plus they have the experience. You can't go with only young players, you need some vets on the sqad too. I personally would go with Neuville for the fourth forward position.

Yeah, thats true. I had completely forgotten about Neuville as an option. I think he'd be a good player to have on the squad again.

My bad..:o

Yeah, that happens :)

I've never been a huge fan of Neuville, but there's no denying that he has been quite decent recently.

A few notes that I keep around in my head that I have to get off my chest:

1) Ernst should not be in the German NT lineup. I don't think he's good enough. I'd actually take Hitzlsperger and maybe even Boateng over him. The guy just doesn't seem to be at his game ever for the German NT and with his dip in form with Schalke, I just don't think he has what it takes.

2) The more I think about it, Kiessling should be our 4th striker. Brdaric and Neuville don't seem to be the spark that we need off the bench. Kiessling I think is a fresh young face that is worth while. However, this may depend on the fitness and return of form of Asamoah; a functional Asamoah > Kiessling, who's just starting. However, regardless of Asamoah's form, I think Kiessling should get a chance in some friendlies

3) Malik Fathi should definitely get a callup. Maybe not to the WC squad, but, like Kiessling, a callup to friendlies. I agree with Jaison; I think Jansen is more suited for an attacking role. I think Malik would be a great defensive sub at LB when we are ahead. I'd have more faith in him defensively than Lahm.

4) The formation in France where we had

-------------Frings-------Ballack
-----winger----------------------winger---(don't remember the wingers names)

was a great idea. I think we should scrap the idea of having a defensive mf because frankly we don't have a good one. Maybe replace Frings with Borowski, and have Schweinsteiger and Deisler/Frings/Schneider at wings. If we have the lead, then bring on Kehl for Borowski. I think that would be the optimal midfield solution for our team.

5) Cram the gk talk...Klinsmann pick one now and stick with your horse to the end of the day.
