Please put your ideas here. Should it be named after that team, the city, something else?
At the initial meeting, Bayou Bullies, H-Town Hooligans, and NorthEnders were mentioned (the last one, assuming we can get the north end of the stadium for our section at Robertson).

If the team ends up being named, "Houston 1836" or some play on that:
1. 1836 Battalion (or 1836 Legion)
2. Sam Houston's Army
3. The Trench (or The Northend trench)
4. Bayou Battalion

I really like NorthEnders, as I told yall last night. But I don't know how to vote for that here. Would it be the something else option?

Good ideas - let's keep going - team related, city related or others - please post some more suggestions.
5. We could go back to the history books - Deaf Smith's Volunteers/Rangers/Scouts
6. I even like the idea of a name like "Alegría" - the joy
7. or "Fanaticos Chumado" drunk fans
8. how about "Alegría F.C." (for Fanaticos Chumado) - which could be loosely translated as Joyful Drunken Fans
9. Bad Arse Suppporters, Houston - aka the BASH.
10. Tucos Locos - Strong Crazies
11. Club 1836
Someone please feel free to correct my pitiful spanish.

I'm not a native Houstonian (by any stretch of the imagination - my wife is more native than I am, as she was at least naturalized here!), but I recall some significance to to the number "34" being emphasized last night... Can that be worked in somehow?
It's hard to vote one way or another in the above poll, at least until we have a name for the team, I think. "1836" has historical significance, and so might our group name in turn, whether it be "So-And-So's Army" or "This-Other-Guy's Battalion" or whatever. Alternatively, "Apollos" is fairly deific and mythologic, and with Apollo being the Greek god of music (among other things), something along the lines of "(Apollo's)/(The) Minstrels" might be in order.
May the Good Lord help us should we be hung with "Los Gatos". We might as call ouselves "The Kittens" and be done with it. Bleah, and double bleah on that one!
Actually, now that I think about it, I kinda like "The Minstrels" - we're there to deliver inspiring music to our boys (even if all we have is a tuba to begin with!) More food for thought in that vein here (http://ancienthistory.about.com/cs/grecoromanmyth1/p/Apollo.htm).
I'm still in favor of the "H-Town Hooligans" if we go non-specific, but we had better be damn sure we maintain a clean image. A name like that starts us off with one strike already, just from connotation alone.

I'm not sure if the Houston MLS brass will be as supportive with a name like H-town Hooligans...i.e. no more free beer from the boss. Even if we know we'll be civil, I agree we'd be starting with a strike against us.
I like the name, but as an official supporter's group name it may be frowned on by outsiders and those who stereotypically associate soccer with violent hooliganism.

Just a little input from a fan of another team....pleaaaase dont name yourself the bayou bullies or H-town hooligans. From the picture that I saw you are all white and will get made fun of endlessly if you name yourself h-town hooligans. Personally I think you should name yourself the battallion or something along those lines, and the section(s) where you stand called The Trench.

Have to agree with that and as someone else stated, hooligans creates an image that we probably don't want to create.
I too like the Northenders under the assumption that we are sitting in the north stands. Regardless, I think our name should be city related.

Yes, I vote we stay away from anything like hooligans or bullies. We don't want that kind of rep, especially if we aren't going to be hooliganistic at all.

OK, so no one else likes my idea... that's all right, I'll be fine... (sniff)... :(
But, yeah, I know that realistically there would be no way we could have "___ Hooligans". It's still my favorite, but it'll (rightly) never happen (at least with this group and in this day and age...)
Do you think "___ Bullies" would be as much of a problem as well, though? I kinda liked that one, too. But then again, I've pretty much liked them all so far.
Well, except for my "Kittens". It had better not be "Gatos".

Gatos would at least give us the opportunity to name the fan section the Jungle. Fan group's name on the other hand would be a little harder to put together.
I don't think naming the group before we know what the team's name/colors is a good idea to begin with, unless they drag their feet into February.

2. Sam Houston's Army
My pick. At some point in the future other teams' supporters may wonder why we have a name so close to the USMNT fan group. To that..., who cares, the best for the best!

2. Sam Houston's Army
"Sam's Volunteers" has a nice ring to it and might be worth considering too.
But aren't we getting a bit ahead of ourselves?
I think it would make sense to wait until the team name is announced before deciding on a name for the supporter's group.

...or the "litter box"
Now that I got that one out of my system, I really hope the team isn't called, "Gatos."

If the team is named "The Houston Gatos"... Then I think "The Cat's Meow" would be a good name for the supporter's group..:)
Oh.. I just saw the post above mine.. The Litter Box is just fine..:D

"Old Three Hundred" ? for the first settlers who settled along the Brazos, Colorado, and San Bernard Rivers during the 1820's? just a thought.
But I like "Houston 1836" a lot for the Supportor's Official name..
or
"Houston Republic" or "The Republic of Houston" :D
