...on Comcast Sports Net (ch. 400) on Comcast Digital Cable at 7:30 PM, vs. Chicago. Not sure if that means you dish users are SOL(?).

FYI...enjoy. OTOH, given the Cougars' stellar performance this season, perhaps you'd rather stick sharpened bamboo skewers in your eyes. ;)

I have DISH Network in San Jose. Comcast Sportsnet is channel 409, listed as CSNWS. The Cougars will be on the channel at 7.30pm with a pregame show at 7pm on the same channel.

Thanks for starting the thread Blue!

Hmm, that was interesting.

Exciting final.

Felt good to raise my fisted arms in the air. :)

Cougars' first win! Had to make it exciting with the sudden death OT, but it does keep you on the edge of your seat, doesn't it? New venue looks good...might be time to (gasp) go see live soccer. Remember that?

Yep! That's what I mean about it feeling good raising my arms in victory with that last goal. I could FEEL the roar and excitment of that crowd.

I have mixed feelings about indoor soccer. Love the game of course, it's so fast paced and high scoring. My kid used to play every year at Off the Wall, but I know so many adults who've ended up with concussions or some other awful injury that ended their soccer playing altogether.

I will follow the Cougars, watch games on tv and maybe even go to a game or two. I like the goalkeeper and I really liked how the atmosphere came off on tv-must be great live.

Also, as far as the team and league. I think it will be an awesome game to watch as the teams games develop. Chicago used the walls tonite (at least in the second half). The cougars really need to figure that out. Once they do, I think the potential for some beautiful indoor soccer is possible. It would be hella fun to watch.

Why isn't this in the HP Pavilion? Is the Lacrosse that much better?

Don't know what made the MISL choose Stockton. Probably Dayak had a hand in it? Probably cheaper that SJ. I really don't know.

Lacrosse. Something else I will consider following for very personal reasons. When's the season? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/rbccg/124.gif

This month, I believe. There are schedules popping up all over town around here, so something obviously is afoot.

Why isn't this in the HP Pavilion?

There was the San Jose Grizzlies in 1995 for the old CISL but they played during the summer if I recall. The MISL plays a winter schedule.

If they did play at HP, Sharks would obviously get first dibs at the dates. In the Delta the Cal Cougars only have to compete with minor league hockey.

The new arena in Stockton had the hand in it. Much like an SSS down here would be the catalyst in SJ/SC/wherever attracting an MLS expansion team. It was being built long before Dayak was announced as Cougars coach.

And, as opposed to HP Pavilion, as bigdumbgod asked, the new arena is the perfect size for MISL, heck maybe even too big. It seats roughly 10K according to the arena boss, who was interviewed prematch. There were loads of empty seats last night, and the 200-level seats were tarped off. I don't know how big the average home crowds were previously, but an 0-11 start probably didn't help bring in the fringe/bandwagon fans.

Hopefully last night's TV broadcast was publicized well in the Delta/Sacto/inland area, because that could help spur some local interest. It sure wasn't publicized well down here (neither major paper had it in their Sports section TV listings), but I doubt we're the target audience.

You would think the Cougars would be somewhat more hyped here in the Sacramento area with Stockton just a 40-mile hop down the Valley, but they're not. The MISL standings and results are in the Sac Bee, and a two paragraph AP blub about last night's game near the back of the sports section today, and that's about it. That surprises me a bit, because the Stockton pro teams based in the beautiful new arena, IMO will need some fans driving in from Sac, Tracy and Modesto to survive.

I went to the first event in that building last month, featuring the minor league hockey team, the Stockton Thunder. It's a nice building; my only complaints are the slightly cramped concourse and the lousy prices for concessions. But I'm worried the novelty may have worn off a bit too quickly. Haven't been to the Cougs yet but I probably will sometime this season.

They are getting better at that as the get more used to the indoor game. They hardly used the wall at all in their home opener. It wasn't fun to watch. But last night it was cool to see how far they've come already. They can only get better!
