This deserves it's own thread:

"I just called US Soccer and spoke to Amy. She said that we would not be notified until mid to late January. She said they have not decided if they are going to open up sales to the public."
----
I also received roughly the same information from another US Soccer ticketing person. I was told they are "trying" to notify us be the fifa deadline, but that isn't looking too probable.

I'm not worried myself, I think I am going to get tickets, but those people waiting on the "public sale" or those higher up in the confirmation scheme might need this info so they can decide to go through the Fifa lottery.
Don't want someone to miss out on this info by missing it in the other thread.
Thanks for the very helpful comments.

WHAT??????
I am not stepping back from the ledge at all. What is wrong with these people?? I just busted out over $1000 for the airfare and $400 for the train passes for my buddy and me plus (most importantly) spent the extremely valuable marraige capital of getting my wife to agree to let me leave her and our two little ones for TWO WEEKS to go see the US in Germany -- and they can't pay me (or any of us) the courtesy of whether or not we are getting tickets within A MONTH of when we submitted our application. WTF???
If this is, in fact, the case, they should AT LEAST send us an email explaining the situation and the reason for delay -- especially considering the FIFA deadline and the bar against double ordering. I don't know what to do now??? Should I submit a request to FIFA as well or just give up and hope for the best.
Very, very frustrating.

He does make a valid point.
I seem to think things will work out in the end. It would be nice to 'hear' from them however, especially in light of the FIFA lottery drawing to a close so soon. It is my understanding that to apply for FIFA could jeopardize the tix from US Soccer... this is THE concern I imagine with most.

One would think that they should be able to now notify some portion of the the people who are definetly getting tickets. There must be some clear cutoff point for those who made it. For example, everybody who faxed in on 12/12? Or even, everybody who faxed in before noon on 12/12, etc.
I am sure there is a cutoff point where it is unclear whether tickets will be allocated, but surely the first 100? 250? people are getting tickets.
That would at least resolve uncertainty for some.

This is absolutely inexcusable. Whoever at USSF is responsible for this should be fired.

Or even, everybody who faxed in before noon on 12/12, etc.
This "cheating to win" philosophy (my motto when playing), for lack of a better word, is quite perplexing to me with regards to this situation at US Soccer. Wasn't it specifically stated that faxing begin once emails were sent out at Noon on 12-12? Just because the information came out at or around 11:30am that day doesn't change the protocal, no? For all we know, they tossed those bastards in the dump and started at noon.
That being said GNGRASSO you make an equally valid point about at "least" knowing who for surehas tickets already.

This is frustrating.
I consider myself on the bubble...Late Tues 2pm (FEDEX Screw Up) delivery...my backup plan was to apply to the FIFA lottery by Jan 15th.....Now What?!?
I have booked my plane tickets, so one way or another I am going...

Whoa, you are correct, I forgot that the lines "opened" at noon.
By the way, I DEFINETLY was NOT one who got the app before noon. I was out of my office and specifically got back at noon to download the app. I was as pissed as everybody else to learn that the app was available before noon.
But you are correct, by giving some cutoff for those that ARE getting tickets, the rest of us (if I am in that category) can make a calculated gamble with the FIFA lottery BEFORE hearing from USSF.

I have to agree, this is rather pathetic. I think they probably took too long a holiday. It is frustrating because I would apply for tickets in the FIFA lottery if this doesn't work out, but then you risk one of two things, A) getting stuck with 2 sets of tickets, B) being disqualified from either site for applying twice.
It really isn't rocket science here. Add up the number of available seats, Add up the number of requests, notify the first group that definitely has them. I am sorry, a month should have been more than enough time to get this done. If you realize that your staff is beyond incompetent and can't figure it out, hire an accounting firm to tally it up.

This pisses me off. My buddy and I were unable to get through the FAX line so I used FEDEX. I'm hoping that they have some kind of allocation for FAX and some kind of allocation for mail.
But more importantly, I've gotta know soon so I can shuffle all of my vacation time around. GRRR.

What I think I am going to do, is apply to Ghana-USA through the FIFA lottery, since I applied for tix to the Italy and Czech Republic games through the USSF. My confirm # was 203X, so I am hopeful of getting tix, but you never know.
I would think that, relative to the CR and Italy games, the odds of getting US v Ghana seats is much higher through the FIFA lottery. How many Ghanaian and American fans could there be on the continent???? Far fewer than Italnia fans, I can tell you that much. Just something some of you who DIDN'T apply for tickets to the third match through the USSF might want to consider.

I emailed them this morning requesting that they update us all regarding the timeline for notification. I mentioned that we need to know as lodging is nearly extinct and the FIFA deadline is looming. I have not received anything back from them yet but this thread doesn't support much optimism for when I finally do hear back from them.
We all know damn well what they are doing right now. They are trying to figure out how many tickets are needed/wanted by the suits (US Soccer/Corporate Sponsors/Wealthy Individuals/Celebrities/etc). I imagine those folks get a rolling deadline 'cause heaven forbid Bruce Arena's 2nd cousin from the Old Country misses the Italy game while REAL supporters go instead.

Well.... my confirmation number is 10276, and I sent via fax at noon on Tuesday. I would say that my chances are not very good.

Please don't forget Donovan's girlfriend and Convey's hairstylist. Oh... and Jamar Beasley. Perhaps John O'Brien's personal physician as well... but this I am in full agreement with.

If I don't get tickets through USSF, I'll buy them outside the stadiums on game day.
Haven't you folks ever bought from scalpers before?

I love idiots like you. USSF set out the sponsor allotments long in advance. You should be relieved to know that they reduced the amount of tickets each state soccer association could purchase from 100 per state in 2002 to 4 per state in 2006. USSF wants fans there as much as us fans want to be there.
That said, they will have really dropped the ball if they do not get people an answer in time for them to enter this FIFA ticketing phase.

I have developed a neurosis from this ordeal.
It has one defining symptom:
An uncontrollable fixation on my email inbox
Someone, make it stop.
Please help me, USSF!
