Email I got from US Soccer. It boggles my mind that they aren't sure that they can get us the ticket confirmations by January 15th. When the Mexico gaem sold out in 15 minutes, I fail to see how a high ticket demand could shock them so much that they can't figure it out in a month!!!!!!! I really don't think it is too much to ask to know whether or not we have tickets before the expiration of the FIFA lottery.

Thank you for your interest in U.S. Soccer and the 2006 FIFA World Cup! We hope to be able to notify those who participated in the ussoccerfan.com pre-sale of their order's status (i.e. fulfilled or placed on the U.S. Soccer Waiting List) by mid to late January. We understand the desire to make accommodations for transportation and lodging should you be allocated tickets. We also understand that some fans would like to obtain tickets through FIFA's Phase III sale (ending January 15, 2006) if they are not allocated tickets through U.S. Soccer. Orders are being validated and processed as quickly as possible keeping these things in mind.

Based on the demand from the ussoccerfan.com pre-sale, there will not be a public sale of 2006 FIFA World Cup tickets.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

U.S. Soccer

I got the exact same e-mail verbatim, with the exception that mine didn't include the last line about not having a public sale.

Screw this. I couldn't even get my order in until about the 20th since I had to wait for my new credit card to show up, so I don't think I'm getting tickets anyway. I'm e-mailing with SoccerVacations to see if I can get single-game tickets thru them and if that won't work and I don't hear back from the USSF one way or the other by the 14th, I'm applying thru FIFA.

I've heard good things about RazorGator (http://www.razorgator.com/sport/splash/world-cup.html)...They have single game tickets.

You've heard good things about me too, and I'll have two USA TST-3s bought through Euroteam up for sale if I get the USSF allocation.

Yeah, for $430 (although that's still a lot better than most of the other ticket broker sites I've seen)...I'll probably buy an Italy ticket from them if I can't get it thru another cheaper source, Czech and Ghana I think I should be able to get from a scalper.

:D

Just for kicks I went to Euroteam to see what they are charging for USA TST-6's.....

I got (2) TST-6's from FIFA for $603. each

Euroteam was $3166. each

And you think the USA ticket prices are high....take a look at the prices for England!! Almost three times the USA prices!! Supply and Demand at its finest!

Yeah insane. The USA TST-3s were 745 euros each back in the spring, and as I was getting my group together, they went up to 810 euros. Then after we bought them they were up around 840 euros.

My brother talked with USSF on phone. First, they said they're still entering application info (in other words, keypunching all the apps). Second, his sense is that if you're not allocated tix through US Soccer, it might not be possible to apply for FIFA anyway because you'll be on the USSF wait list (leading to the possibility of duplicate applications).

As I noted earlier, it would be a lot easier if USSF would just email everyone and let them know what's going on.

Wouldn't it be possible to cancel one of the orders? For example, if your USSF waitlisted, apply for FIFA lottery. Whichever you hear about first, cancel the other?

I would assume so. I guess the question is whether you would have to cancel the USSF order before applying for FIFA tickets?

18. Can I cancel my application later?

If you apply for single tickets, or TST series you cannot withdraw, cancel, or change your application. http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/tickets/faq.html

According to the US Soccer site, FIFA has allotted them 8% of seats for each match they, that means that for the group matches, the US gets, as follows:

Gelsenkirchen - 3,874 tickets
Nuremberg - 2,951 tickets
Kaiserslautern - 3,321 tickets

I think we may find out that there aren't that many tickets. It doesn't say that US Soccer has been given 8% of capacity. It says that US Soccer has been given 8% of FIFA's tickets. While that may be the same thing, it may not.

I tried to get a ticket to England vs. Paraguay via Soccer Vacations and Antonio said the very cheapest tickets available are going for 1500 Euros each right now! Needless to say, I'll be watching that game on the big screen in Frankfurt.

This is very frustrating for me as well. While I don't have $2000 on the line for a trans-atlantic flight (will already be in France/Spain during the World Cup), as a HS kid I can say with some confidence that this is my last chance at a world cup until 2018. I doubt I'll have the money to go in 2010 when I'll still be a college student, and I don't imagine myself having enough cash to spend a few weeks in Brazil in 8 years either.

Overwhelmed or not, from a customer service standpoint (and i work for Marriott and understand being overwhelmed.)
The first rule to customer service when you are overwhelmed, keep the people waiting informed, they will be much less frustrated if they KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! US Soccer has totally failed in this. Regardless of the orders, they could at least keep people informed.

Seriously! I just finished my first retail ownership holiday, and I didn't really LIKE working 12+ hour days with one weekend in 6 weeks, but I liked it better than disappointing any of my fans. I'm having ticketing nightmare flashbacks to 98. You can't tell me that they couldn't hire some temps, pull in a few extra hours and process at least the first week's worth of orders on-time. Heck, the first three days worth of orders are the people who are really intense about it, get us processed already!

I just keep thinking about how much easier it will be to get tickets to South Africa. It was so sweet to get Korea tickets, take me back to an obscure venue!

Take it from me... you'll do what it takes to save your money. A 15-pack of mac n cheese for $10 is just one of the many options available :D

Dont discount globalization! South Africa might not seem that different 4 years from now.

This is disgusting.

USSF needs to get off the crack rock.

Is there anyone ever held responsible anymore?

They said in plain English before the deadline that everyone would be notified by the fourth.

Everyone here seems to be scared of complaining directly to the USSF out of fear of being disqualified.... It's kind of funny- not really though.

6 pages of detail...many faxes and mailed applications -- I can see why this will take some time.

Would have been much easier to have an online form setup on ussoccerfan.com. Not only would the processing of been faster, but much less manual error in translating our perhaps-not-so-legible writing into the FIFA system.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but did other countries have online forms for their soccer federation tix?
