The Peruvian elections will be held on April 9 according to the latest poll L. Flores is the top candidate, followed surprisingly close by O.Humala and third is A. Garcia.
L.Flores (from Unidad Nacional):represents the rich powerful people of Peru (kind of like the Republicans here in the states)
O.Humala is a liberal not affiliated with any political party and has gained popularity with the common Peruvian with his populistic approach.
A.Garcia (from Apra): has already been a president from 1985-1990 with not much success and now says that he has learned from his mistakes.
There are many more candidates but the sites are so slow try:

Only about 1-2% of Peruvians support Fuji.

But to have ANYONE support a criminal like him is so ridiculous that it gets a lot of press.

Right-wing Lourdes? No.

Ollanta who? It's nice that another straight indigenous candidate is receiving support, but this guy has no strategy, no experience, no anything.

Alan Peru!

tidbit from AP-story....

SANTIAGO (AP)--The Peruvian government Tuesday formally asked Chile to extradite former president Alberto Fujimori, who is wanted by Lima on corruption and human rights charges.
"Today we have delivered to foreign minister Ignacio Walker a diplomatic document formalizing the extradition request for Peruvian citizen Alberto Fujimori," Peru's ambassador to Chile, Jose Antonio Meier told journalists.
...The extradition request cited 12 counts against Fujimori, 10 of which related to alleged acts of corruption with the remaining two counts alleging grave rights violations, according to Maldonado.
...Peru's government delivered 12 boxes of documents weighing 93 kilograms (205 pounds) in support of its extradition request...
Chile's foreign ministry is now obliged to forward the extradition request to Supreme Court judge Orlando Alvarez. Alvarez is the judge who ordered Fujimori's arrest shortly after his surprise arrival here in November.
Under Chilean law, the courts have to review any extradition request from a foreign government. It will be up to Alvarez to approve or reject the request.
Spokesman Osvaldo Puccio said the Chilean government would respect a court ruling on the extradition bid and that the process would be impartial despite Fujimori's standing as a former head of state.
"The Chilean government acts on the basis of facts, not speculation," Puccio told reporters.
Fujimori's lawyers are expected to request their client be freed, or released into house arrest, pending a decision on the extradition request.
But Peruvian state prosecutor Antonio Maldonado said he would strongly object to any such move, because of the likelihood Fujimori would seek to flee.
...Fujimori's Chilean lawyer said last month that his client has been spending his time in detention reading and learning the guitar as well as growing roses in a little garden.

Paniagua showed he had a plan when they interviewed him in Cuarto Poder like they do with the other candidates. Plus, he seems the least harmless from all the other crooks. He seems like he would steal the least. :D

He does kind of lack a bit of strong character, but his ministros can help him out with that.

If it's not Paniagua, then I would go with "boca chueca" Flores Nano :D

Alan really is a good choice right now.

One of the most important elements in the APRA doctrine is Latin American economic unity.

During his 1st term (1985-90) he had few allies cuz most South America was neoliberal. But now there is a clear shift to more socialist governments so there is greater opportunity for fair trade.

I heard Chavez gives money to Peru. I was talking with a Venezolano friend and he said Ven is super poor at the people level, yet the counrty is at its all time high in income.

Nobody knows where the money is going. My buddy said that Chavez is giving money to Peru, Cuba, Bolivia etc..

Now with the election of the Indio Bolivian, is Peru next to get somebody with real anti-USA ideals?

yeah. I don't get it either. I call bullshiat on his "I was young" excuse. He fuked up big time. No way I would vote for him. El APRA is not the same party it was a long time ago.

Well, all left-of-center governments are "anti-USA" to some degree.

-Fidel and Cuba have no relationship with the US and criticize them openly

-Chavez and Evo Morales also criticize but are more open to trading with them

-APRA and Alan would also trade with the US but aren't too high giving the country away to any foreign interests the way Right of center parties are.

I do.

The guy is extremely well-educated, he was just immature and too idealistic during his presidency.

APRA might not be what they used to but they're better than anything else. Lourdes' party is what, 6 years old?? What plan of government could Humala possibly have?

Alan es la voz.
