I'm scared, guys. I'd be happy if we only lost by one goal.

Nerves? :)

Andy Lines, Head of News, Daily Mirror and lifelong Chelsea fan, he used to live in the states and knew many of the New York Blues – anyways – his daughter is the Chelsea mascot for this game and nervous about running out on to the pitch holding the hand of John Terry.

She should have NOTHING to be nervous about, lucky girl. ;)

don't know much about Huddersfield, but i hope FA Cup goes a lot better then Carling Cup did.

That will all depend on how our foreign manager takes the game.

The FA Cup has gone down the wrong side of the slippery slope these past few years, due in no small part to the number of foreign players and managers in the league these days.

It used to be a glorious competition, season defining, for many a year.
Sadly, it is no longer so.
What has become good for the league (aforementioned players and managers) has been largely responsible for the decline in value of the FA Cup.

Hell, years ago, even at this early stage, the 3rd round, you would see players on the so called 'big teams' bust a gut to win the match.Even that is no more, to a large degree, as they 'save themselves' for the league and as the competition progresses, the Champions league - which itself has been the other half of the whole problem.

I'll tell you what, if you want to see what an old time manager thinks about an old time cup - keep an eye on what Paul Jewell puts out and says about the semi-final of the league cup.

I think pure skill will win this one for us, coupled with a true cup spirit performance from Terry and Lampard - that is of course if our foreign manager even plays them, wouldn't surprise me at all if he decided to be a twit (in my eyes) and 'rested' them - coming out with some bollocks about it coming just too soon after a rather hectic and intensive holiday fixture list, compounded by the tactics of that shower of shyte yesterday.

On pure 'guts and glory' - I have a feeling that Huddersfield Town will put in a performance that I could only wish for from Chelsea.

Yes, but given that we no longer have the Carling Cup to worry about, I think Mourinho will put out a mostly first choice side.
With all due respect to the Cup, the reason we have all this depth is so that we don't need to play our first choice side to beat clubs like this.

Very true.

However, regardless of need or not, 20...even 10 years ago, the first choice 11 would be out on the pitch.

Being born and raised on this cup, I do have a hard time accepting that you are, of course, quite right...and it's even worse knowing it to be so.

I think after the first couple of rounds you'll see most of our first choice squad out there..........and I dunno how seriously clubs like Liverpool took the Cup back in "the day", so to speak. Not saying the didn't take it seriously, but when they were fighting for that big eared jug, did the FA Cup seem as important? I'd ask them, but..........I'd rather not. :)

To be fair to the scousers - another thing that goes against the grain - they always, from top to bottom at the club, management, players and supporters, they always did get up for the cup.

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm with you on this one, but they were saying on Sky that Jose was planning to rest Lamp.

Of course we should rest Lamps. He looked gassed by the end of the last game and its bloody Huddersfield! What's the point of our depth if we're never going to use it?

I agree 100%. Honestly, if our second team can't beat Huddersfield, I don't know what to say. Our second team would finish in the top half of the Prem Our foreign manager has a nice feel for these things (I hope). Of course, if we lose, and if we get ousted by Barca, the rest of the season will be pretty perfunctory at that point. I say 3-0 us. The subs should be up for it as they know they need to show something to the boss. Paging SWP, paging SWP. Have to believe he will finally get the full 90 in this one.

I hope.

But like they say: I'll believe it when I see it.

Said in the Guardian this morning that John Terry and Frank Lampard have flown out to Dubi for a few days as they have been given the FA cup game off. looks like she will be holding someone elses hand.

I do not see the problem with resting players to be honest. I mean Lampard needs a rest. Look at his record, the lad hasn’t had a day off in years. It would be nice to see Huth, Johnson, Cudicini, et al get a game now and then and there should be no dramatic loss in quality.

cheers Dr: ah, bless, looks like no JT for the lassie. I wonder who the skipper will be?

The ultimate irony in this globalization era - the skipper could well be Makelele or Carlo....
