This is a bit of a random thread. Who has the better teams. The North of England or the South of England?

Liverpool, Man Utd, Newcastle, Bolton.......

Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham.......

Considering no southern team has ever won the European Cup, you'd have to say the north. Not to mention that before Abramovich, the league has been dominated by northern teams.

Considering Chelsea have by far the best team in England this season and last. My vote is for south.

Easily the North. If you only look at this season it is probably a tie though.

Are Birmingham and Nottingham north or south?

If you really have to put them as one or the other then they have more in common with the north.

In that they hate London and the surrounding area?

It's not just football that the North is better at. It's everything. Ever.

Historically, you probably have to say northern teams.

The only southern team with a genuine tradition of winning the league is Ars*nal. Spurs and Chelsea have only won it twice.

In recent times, the best teams are southern. Southern teams probably will win the league three times in a row now.

Even then, it's only certain parts of the north that are successful. North Eastern teams hardly win trophies. Yorkshire teams generally are crap. It's only the North West that has been consistently successful.

Newcastle haven't won a major trophy since the 1960's. Sunderland haven't since the 70's. Middlesbrough's Carling Cup win was their first ever trophy. North Eastern football is shite, period.

Only 21 of 106 championships have gone to teams in the south of England, and 13 of those have been won by Arsenal. There's no question that the north, and specifically the northwest, is historically more dominant.

(As a side note, looking at the lists of former champions really makes you wonder what the hell happened to Aston Villa, let alone Everton.)

I have to say, what on earth is a Spurs fan daring to talk about a club looking to the past.
