McManaman? No. Simon Charlton is experienced, doesnt mean he should be in the England squad.
Dyer? No. Already had too many chances.
Beattie? Needs to score some goals.
Smith ? In midfield not good enough. As a forwards- not good enough.

Given a chance

-Defoe (a proper chance, not 10 minutes)
-Carrick
-Kirkland
-Parker
-Etherington
-Dyer (who has looked pretty decent sub, and can play anywhere)

I also wouldn't mind Jagielka being given a shot, just to see if he could make the step up.

Jamie Carragher has been playing like a god. Has he done something horrible in the past that makes english people disslike him? I'm not english but I know talent when I see it. Bench Rio and let him have a few starts. Can Sweden have him if you guys don't want him?

He's a scouser :D

lol, seriously though, I think he's a good player but I wouldnt put him ahead of ferdinand. Good cover, but its never quite happened for him in an England shirt.

He's too much like Terry, just not as good.

well given he plays for an inferior team (on paper at least) there might be an argument to say that he is better

after all terry gets to play behind Mak and Essien, and beside Gallas, whereas Carra gets the likes of Hypia, finnan, aged hamann, sissoko etc

Agreed. Too slow and not good enough on the ball to start ahead of the likes of Ferdinand. Club form has pretty much always been a distant second to natural talent when it comes to doing well for England.

The best centre back partnerships have always been one physical 'honest' defender with a sweeper type. The physical defender should be one of Terry or Campbell as first choice, then after them it goes to Carragher as 3rd choice.

yes - he'll be in the squad as cover for sure. Not sure campbell will be?

Another reason not to start Carra, is that he has experience playing anywhere across the back four, which makes him an idea sub. Granted he could move out to the wing if there was a problem with Neville/Cole during the game but that would cause a disruption.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE not james beatie

i don't like him one bit.

i would rather see emile back than him.

i think richardson will eventually solve our leftside problem though,, maybe he'll be ready for the euro or south africa, or maybe even germany who knows, if the world cup was tommorow , ermmmmmmmmmm i'm not so sure.

smith... he needs a few more lessons in the carrington school of midfielders.

keiron dyer... no ta.

theo walcott and Aaron Lennon should be considered, they have lots of pace and technique to come of the bench and cause problems.

Baines is a good pick much better than wank like Konchesky. But Ridgwell???? please tell me theirs two of them.

Despite Boro's terrible season Morrison's done relatively well. If Boro can actually get their defense/midfield sorted out, with Downing and Morrison they could be exciting to watch in the future.

none of those players are up to standard apart from maybe downing. what a sorry state of affairs. and england are supose to be one of the favourites
