Yes... we do have the worst federation in concacaf.
Bobby had two chances to get us to the World Cup. The implosion of the team in '98 was unacceptable.
As for the CSA, I could think of a worse federation.

I am certainly not a "Canadian apologist", but I want to address the above points. You can't judge a team on one result. Yes, Canada played a poor 2nd half against Scotland, but they dominated the 1st off using their 2nd string side against Scotland's best. I have seen Canada play since their qualifying debacle and they are a much better team. Unfortunatly for them their "young guns" were too young to be effective back in 2000. Did you notice Canada's 3-0 thrashing of Switzerland in their own house? True Switzerland is not a power, but Canada still beat a European team on European soil. As far as your 2nd point is concerned I think you hit the nail on the head. Their coaching and federation are horrible. Possibly the worst in concacaf.
The first point was not meant to be serious, but to the extent that I gave too much weight to a score, I stand corrected. I wouldn't put too much on a friendly against Switzerland.
My basic point remains that Canada has done nothing on the field to warrant moving up the CONCACAF rankings from where they were in WC Qualifying. They may, but they haven't yet.

I would switch Mathis and McBride and add Ralston as a sub. (I know he didn't play in the World Cup, but I think he would have helped the U.S. if he had.)
Please explain what Ralston has done for the national team over the years.

how are the canadian youth teams? i know they recently defeated the us u-21s in a tournament.
Our youth teams did well when playing against US youth teams. Unfortunately yesterday we sent what was mainly a youth team & they got killed by your seniors. :)

I did go to the Hotel but I didn't get a chance to see the Bus this time. I would imagine it would have said "Combination Senior B team/U23 B team" if it were to be accurate - what does that end up equalling, C-? :)

If you honestly believe Perez is fit to shine Friedel's shoes I have some beach front property in Arizona that I'll sell you real cheap. We're talking about a guy who couldn't start for any of the MLS teams vs guy who many people rate as the best GK in the premiership. I know we all look at our players thru rose colored glasses, but c'mon.

I'd say Perez is lower than Friedel, Keller, Hirschfeld and maybe even Hislop in the CONCACAF GK pool.
And Pavon should be replaced by Radzinski.
Other than that, a very strong team.

I'd also add Tim Howard, Nick Rimindo, Joe Cannon, Zach Thornton, Matt Jordan, Kevin Hartman, and Matt Reis to that list. Hell, I'd bring Craig Forrest out of retirement before I'd select Perez. I'm not saying he sucks, but he isn't even in the top 10 of concacaf goalkeepers.

If I'm not mistaken historically neither Canad or the US have dominated each other at the youth level. I think that it's hard to predict future results based on youth performance.

Maybe it's too bad Rimando chose to go with Team USA. He's Mexican-American, isn't he? He could be starting for El Tri.

I've heard that's he's on Philipino descent.

I think the one who needs to take off his rose colored glasses is yourself. Your screen name gives you away. I'd say both Friedel and Keller are better than Perez but Perez is better than all of the goalkeepers in MLS. In case you missed it Perez was a big reason Cruz Azul made it to the finals of the Copa Libertadores.

I do watch MFL. Perez is decent and has his moments, but there are 6-7 yanks better.

zach thornton???, i havent see any of the other gk play, but since u add thornton to the list, then im not even sure that u have actually seen perez play, its ok that u like the american keepers, but dont let ur national pride blind you
friedel and keller are the best gks in concacaf, but u cant start saying that all the american keepers are better than the others, i actually have seen some mls games, and the keepres arent that great

Ancient history. Perez is the reason Cruz Azul got dumped out of the playoffs in the season that just ended (I get confused whether it is the Clausura or Apurtura in Mexico).
