Deserved IMHO , why he is not a starter yet for the national team is beyond me, him just behind Crespo would be brilliant and Requilme even further withdrawn with Killy or Lucho on one flank and Maxi or Bilos on the other??? Cambiasso the link and Mascherano the controller, it is going to shape up well.... trust me ,,, and then Zanetti, Ayala, Milito, Sorin in the back!!!! Ustari or Abbondancieri at goal, why are we nervous :D Messi on the bench  come now bring it on!!

to be honest i don't think there was any doubt that he was gonna win it again. IMO he's by far the best player playing in south america the past 3 years. the KID rips it up at boca, moves to the corinthians, scores 20 goals, takes the captincy band from whoever had it, brings them a title and becomes a god to the fans. best player i've seen in south america in years.

Romario had more goals...

goals is not everything the kid can do, he also sets them up... if goals would be the only qualifer than Larsson and Henry should be considered better than Cruyff or Maradona ever was.

i know el viejo matias he can do more, i was just trying to go off a little bit about what he's done to deserve the award. i know there's plenty of other things he does well and has done.

and i think romario had 24 goals ( a bunch on pk's) but 20 is still not that bad.

Let's not forget now. He fights with his teamates as well. Now there's a class act.

so did Stoichkov, Romario, Edmundo, Hagi........ does that take away from the fact that they were all good to great players??

is this towards me or the other guy??? cause i don't know how to respond. because all i did was praise carlitos a little bit and give a couple reasons why he has been the best player in south america for the past 3 years.

if it is, well yeah those guys are were great players.

the other dudes , those gayinas have only negativity towards any Boca players . Surely if el 'Bichi' Fuertes or 'Chacho' Coudet or J. Mascherano would've won they'd be very defensive .. theese bastards just want to discredit him....

Just breakin some balls there EVM. :p No worries. In all honesty though, I would've given the award to Cicinho for his contribution in the Confederations Cup and Sao Paolo's win in the Copa Libertadores. Not to take anything away from Tevez, but I just think Cicinho did a little bit more. I'm not even Brazilian or Argentinian.

Not discrediting him at all Devilman. I just think Cicinho was a little bit better that's all. Sure Tevez led Corinthians to the Championship(with a little help from the corrupt ref's), but what else did he do? As a matter of fact, I agree with EVm's post regarding why he doesn't start for the National Team. I think he should start right behind Crespo with Roman right behind both of them.

Tevez is an animal. i'd love to see him and messi playing up top together with riquelme in behind. it probably won't happen this wc but by 2010 my dream should become a reality. Does anybody think after the world cup tevez will test european waters?

think you got 12 in your team.

personally, i think tevez and crespo is clearly our best choice front pair, with messi on the bench. i also don't think cambiasso, maxi, kily, bilos deserve a place in the first team. lucho yes, possibly, but not the others. i would rather see someone like aimar or even messi occupying a place in midfield, to compliment roman and take some of the burden off him. if messi did start in midfield, then aguero could be our super sub, coming on late if we need a goal, just like owen did in 98. an unknown quantity who takes the world by storm.

if you noticed it then the referee definately will :o :D I meant to say Ayala or Milito, going back to a very adventuresome 3 in the back, with a kind of 2 defensive midfeilders in the team with one being more a holder and the other a more of a clean up guy. I think Cambiasso and Mascherano together could work very well and come back to help the defense if needed and Ayala or Milito in the center is my choice and really far back as a stopper for anything that gets by Mascherano and Cambiasso as a link wich he does well in Inter. Zanetti I know is not a true defender but he is still decent and as a RB on the wing he is pure class at being able to bring the ball up..... he can restrain himself now and witha winger in the midfeild he does not need to make so many runs, neither would Sorin who I think is an underated defender,,, but if he goes forward there is Mascherano to then track back and Cambiasso to then in turn center himself.... could work no??

well, if you're playing three at the back, with zanetti and sorin, neither of whom are out and out defenders, either side of ayala or milito, my opinion is that we'd need about five defensive midfielders.

my opinion is that if peker plays three at the back, zanetti and sorin will occupy the wide positions in midfield. with mascherano and roman certain starters, and tevez and crespo increasingly looking like being our front pair, that would leave only one more place up for grabs. me personally, because i like him so much, i would give it to aimar. but i wouldn't be unhappy if messi gets it. or lucho. the good thing about playing three out and out defenders, with zanetti and sorin as our wing backs, is that it decreases the need for two defensive midfielders, leaving more space for a creative player. aimar/messi/lucho instead of cucho for example. however, i would always play a straight back four and i believe peker will too.
