Does anyone have any links for services that will help you rent short-term private accomodations (either a studio apartment or a room in someone else's apartment) in Germany?

Thanks.

I found these two sites

For the Cologne, Bonn Dusseldorf area:
http://www.koeln.e-rent.de/english/index.htm

For Cologne, Frankfurt, Berlin, Dusseldorf, & Hannover
http://cologne.apartment-world.de/

Got quick response from the first site and I sent an inquiry to the second but haven't heard back (sent four days ago)

Not looking for a roommate, but what hotel and rate did you get?

My wife and I are looking to see if anyone would be interested in sharing a houseboat near Kaiserslautern from 6/16-6/23. Please PM for details if you're interested.

I found my place through vacationvillas.net The place I ended up renting is villa1.de (I recommend pasting it into google then hitting translate) He may have some more stuff left, but I guess some of the swiss are looking at staying in that area since the swiss team is staying a short distance away.

We searched here as well. We decided to stay in the countryside near several venues and use it as a base to make day trips to games. We rented one of the Faust properties in the Rhinleand Paltintate (sp?) and they still have some villas available including a "hay hostel" that is pretty cheap. It's only an hour north of K'lautern and an hour west of Frankfurt. The train station, Idar-Oberstein, is fifteen minutes away.

On the downside, those who have stayed there previously have cautioned against staying there during the "Big Bad Wolf" seasons due to concerns with questionable stability. Personally, I would go with the "made-of-sticks hostel" as I'm sure that's quite stable. There is some kind of rumor going around about some kind of newfangled brick hostel but I'm pretty sure that's poppycock.

ROTFL!
I hadn't made that connection before. The propriertors call it he "hay hostel" becauses its an old barn where they lay out fresh hay for the guests to lay their sleeping bags on. Its cheap, cheap, cheap.

I think my "guest house" is made out of bricks and some kind of stucco.

You think tickets are hard to get. That is nothibng compared to accomodations. I will be staying with my daughter and we have some friends in other cities that we can both stay with.

Just out of curiosity, is the village you are stying in called "Weiden". Because I'm originally from Idar-Oberstein and I know that the family Faust offers these "hay hostels".
Seriously, you will be living ''behind the sticks" or "in the boondocks" as it is called I guess. Most of thew houses there were built after WW2 and haven't changed a lot since. I am more than interested of what you have to tell after your trip or should I say adventure :D
btw. train connections from IO to Frankfurt are pretty good (for the area), but it takes you nearly 2h to get there. K'lautern is nearer, but it will probably take 2h as well since there is (afaik) no direct connection and you must change trains.
Have fun there :p

Hi,

My name is Mark and I am an American living just northwest of Frankfurt. I have some friends, a Canadian couple, who will be away during the World Cup and have offered their apartment for rent during the World Cup to Big Soccer members.

Here is a description of their very nice place:

Apartment south of Frankfurt with excellent tranportation links. 15 mins by Metro into the city, quiet wooded area. Apartment full kitchen including dishwasher and washer dryer. English TV Sky Plus (Tivo) and DSL internet access, which is fast unlimited service.

Accomadations:
Suitable for 2-3 bit tight for 4. That is 2 on 2 single beds which can be pushed together, 1 on sofa bed and one on airmatteress, if 4 people want to stay in the apartment.

Rates:
US$ 1,000 per week, 2 week minimum. If someone wants to rent it for the whole tournament then we can negotiate on the price.

I, Mark, will then meet you at the train station or airport and take you to the apartment, give you the keys and show you around the place. I have tickets myself to 4 matches. I got lucky in the first FIFA draw and drew, England vs Sweden and I have tickets to 3 USA matches from USSF... Czech, Ghana and Round of 16. So maybe we can travel together to some games.
