Ankle op rules out Reyna
By Alex Livie - Created on 29 Dec 2005
Manchester City midfielder Claudio Reyna has been ruled out for at least six weeks with a broken ankle.
Reyna has been playing through the pain barrier for some time, with a recent scan revealing he broke his ankle some two months ago.
The United States star is set to head to the Netherlands for an operation which will likely rule him out until the end of February.
"It has been really sore and it didn't feel right," Reyna told the club's website. "I could not train through the week and I was just trying to get through games."
The 32-year-old is a key member of Bruce Arena's USA squad and will hope to return to fitness well ahead of the World Cup finals next summer.

Thank god that we had a really good run of games at the beginning of the season because we have gone downhill a bit since then. If we didn't win those first three matches in the opening four fixtures we would be in the bottom-half. We have to reach those UEFA Cup places :(
