While I've not seen this discussed here of late, let me give you an update.

Over the past several weeks, I've had the opportunity to speak with both a very high ranking CSA executive and a staffer from the Federal Government regarding the speculation that the funding of the new stadium might be in question if the Conservative Party should happen to form the next government of Canada.

Both have assured me that the funding is rock solid. It is there, it is in place. As far as funding is concerned, the "i's" are dotted and the "t's" crossed.

Thunderbirds are go! BTW, that wouldn't be a bad name for the team although SFU might be pissed off. ;-)

UBC is the Thunderbirds.

SFU is the Clan.

UBC is the Thunderbirds.

SFU is the Clan.

The Clan would be out. Wouldn't go over well in the USA (especially if spelled with a K.)

My mistake. Really, the Clan? I'm sure it has a logical reason but I can't say I like it.

Its actually Clansmen, and likely derived from the Scotish heritage of the explorer for whom the university is named. But it is a dull name, and often bitchslapped by Huskies :)
