Honestly, it's more of just not being so accommodating and standing up for what I want. I'm very conscious of others feelings, almost to a fault, as it often gets in the way of my responding to my own.

EDIT: I just re-read that, and it sounds like I'm a pushover. That's not what I meant at all. It's just that I'm often told that I'm too nice, and that it's kept me from doing things I want to do. 2006 is the start of the change, and my trip to London is a big part of that.
I hear what you're saying, i'm also a thoughtful person, but luckily i'm selfish enough to make sure that i always come first (except when i'm banging a real hottie). :D
When are you heading over to London? Make sure you hang out with Jeff, he's really got a great philosophy of life, you could learn alot from him.

I think Swedish Fish would go good with just about anything. As far as your resolution, good luck with it. This is something i've thought about doing myself, do you have any ideas of how to go about becoming more of a dick? I've tried drinking, but it's only made me friendlier and more outgoing. Maybe i should start drinking whiskey. ;)
Nah, I tried that. I was the same kind of drunk, but my nights would end up being a lot shorter and much blurrier. :D

Well, in Japan, men come first, women come second. Or sometimes not at all.

I'm heading over in April. Rick has been kind enough to offer his couch for a few days which saves me bundles in hotel expenses. I'm also looking to stay with friends in Wales for a few days. I figure splitting it up like that is a good way to prevent overstaying my welcome at any one location. :)

Talk to Romeo about that. A few mornings of Manilow might make you regret not ponying up for the hotel. :D

if Jim bails (which is looking more likely every second) i've been offered Rick's couch to sleep on, but i'm going to be in london for like 6 nights and don't want to overstay my welcome, i'm just going to get a hotel on expedia.

You might want to try to do both, crash at Rick's on matchdays and get a hotel in London (or wherever) between matches. Rick's place is great but its kinda far from the center of London if you want to go out sightseeing (or drinking). That sucks that Jim bailed on you, i wonder what happened. It sucks even worse that he's been jerking Rick around about the tickets, I'm sure he feels bad about letting people down, but trying to avoid the situation just makes it worse. I wonder if he's seriously depressed and is just shutting down.

First time I read that one, I missed the period in the bold section. Talk about a confusing moment! :p

I'm sure it doesn't compare to seeing him live. ;) And there is only one place you can do that. But don't worry if you can't make it Jan, Barry's playing Vegas all year. Hey, i tried to send you a PM earlier, but i don't think it went through because i lost my connection, did you get it.

any of the peeps who have been to London this year have any info on using mobiles from the US over there? I do not think my current phone is compatabile in the UK, so I might have to buy a new one. Did anyone try a pay as you go??

Yeah, you can pick up a sim card over there for really cheap, i think it was about 5-10 pounds. If you have a tri band phone you can get it unlocked for 10 pounds and should work like a charm.

cool. I don't know if i have a tri band phone. i don't even know what that is. My phone is a low end Motorola, i think the lowest with a camera phone. i have a Cingular store about a hlaf a block from my APT, so i'm going to ask them about my phone. If I have to get a new one or a pay as you go it won't be that bad.

here is what the specs on my phone are:

Modes GSM 850 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900
carrier-dependent (can be dual-band, tri-band, or quad-band)

found that online after i googled the model number.

can i get the local cingular store to set it all up??

they have some really cheap ones over there. When are you leaving, i could mail you my English sim card, you'd just have to top it up when you get there.

i had cingular set up mine to work in the uk, it got a signal over there but didn't work, you might be better off having it unlocked. but its worth a shot. Just do it soon, i think it takes a while for them to process it. I did it just before i left and it didn't work for the three weeks i was there.
