my new years:
got to Mystic Celt around 8. The group I was with must've been important because they sectioned off the four raised booths in the middle of the bar for us. Many pints of Guinness later, with a few jager bombs, I was hammered and it was midnight. Had a great time, totally drank more then $85 worth of booze, so I won that battle. I ahve been pretty worthless today, not doing anything and don't want to spend anymore money. I've got a 3 day week this week because of my friend's wedding on saturday, going to be crazy there! I wish I had brought my camera to the NYE party. My brother left the bar at like 9:30 and came back around 11. It was funny because when he left the party was pretty low key, but when he came back everyone was trashed and things were getting a little crazy. The best thing about the whole thing is that even though the party was sold out, there was still tons of space to move around in and we weren't crammed in like sardines.

Sounds like a great time Dan-love parties like that where there are a lot of people but you don't feel crowded.

it was fun. really easy to get to the bar to get more drinks. And I couldn't believe that Jagerbombs were included in the all you can drink, usually for these things the bars go with everything sans bomb shots or anything with Red Bull.

I am so out of it...what is a jagerbomb? Jager and Red Bull? Jager was really popular when I was in college. I was never a fan-taste like medicine....yuck!
Watching the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction-its addicting. Especially if you are married to a car freak.......

OK, so the original plan was to have a relatively quiet New Year’s Eve at home, which would include watching the Giants game in the company of a few friends. However, that quickly changed when it turned out that Big Red McD ended up having dinner with his new lady friend up in Conshie, Woolard went to the dirt room with Hansel (he’s so hot right now), Mitchell was stuck hanging with the Mrs’ friends, and Doris ended up having a date down in MD.
Shannon had been kind enough to invite me to her NYE party, but at the time I was expecting anywhere from 5 to 10 people to be stopping by my place, so I had to respond with my regrets.
Thankfully, my roommate Debie and her boyfriend John invited me to dinner at John's place. Also attending would be Josh and Becca - excellent!. Dinner was really good, and there was something for everyone. There were two different chicken dishes, meatloaf, duck, latkes, tossed salad and two different types of rice. I tried everything but the duck. With dinner, John served toasted French-bread slices topped with fig jelly and goat cheese. I’d never had fig jelly before but I must say, it was really quite good. All of this was washed down with a great French cab that Josh and Becca had brought with them.
John and Debie were kind enough to turn the Giants game on for me, so I occasionally would duck into the TV room to check the score. We relaxed with some more wine and Swedish fish in the living room until 11PM, when we all piled into Josh’s car, driven by Becca (the only sober one among us), and headed to Deb’s work friend Amy’s big NYE bash.
Upon entering the party, I was immediately struck with the sense that this was a frat party for older folks. There were two kegs of Milwaulkee’s Beast in the basement, but plenty of wine and champagne upstairs. I took tons of pictures, which you can check out by clicking on the photo above. At midnight, I tried to get everyone to sing “Auld Lang Syne,” but only one other person knew the words, so that didn’t work out too well.
For future reference, here are the lyrics to first verse and the chorus (all anyone ever sings):
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!
Happy new year everyone. All the best for a happy and healthy 2006!

Thanks for thinking of me Steph! Yeah, it turned out well, much better than last year when I was sick in bed. However, I think I overdid it a bit. Ended up waking up around 9:30/10 AM, going down to the Acme for some Advil and Coke, and then went back to bed. I didn't wake up again yesterday until 3PM!
So, I think I'm going to be catching up with Bready in NY on Sunday. Pheel like a road trip? :)

Actually it was really good! I was really surprised. Debie is so funny. Her resolution cracked me up. She has resolved that whenever she goes somewhere for takeout coffee or fast food or something, she will take fewer napkins.
As for me, I'm taking everyone's advice and will be work on becoming more of a d!ck this year.

I think Swedish Fish would go good with just about anything. As far as your resolution, good luck with it. This is something i've thought about doing myself, do you have any ideas of how to go about becoming more of a dick? I've tried drinking, but it's only made me friendlier and more outgoing. Maybe i should start drinking whiskey. ;)

Honestly, it's more of just not being so accommodating and standing up for what I want. I'm very conscious of others feelings, almost to a fault, as it often gets in the way of my responding to my own.
EDIT: I just re-read that, and it sounds like I'm a pushover. That's not what I meant at all. It's just that I'm often told that I'm too nice, and that it's kept me from doing things I want to do. 2006 is the start of the change, and my trip to London is a big part of that.
