Zanetti is a great captain, too bad that Inter seem to underperform of late...
However, Zanetti is also captain of Argentina when Ayala isn't there, so that surely counts for something.

Maldini no contest, he might not be as inspirational as he once was, but he still means alot to Milan.
The man is a ********ing living legend, him and his father are MILAN, the day Maldini retires will be a sad day not only for Milan but football in general.

Don't believe the hype Gerrard isn't a great captain, not enough so to hold a candle to Maldini. IIRC wasn't he flirting with Chelsea this summer? And aside from his odd inspirational match, he isn't even the most important player at Liverpool[Alonso ;)] , let alone the best leader. Ask any real Liverpool fan, they'll tell you Carragher is the real captain of their team.

They could make a handsome sum from him if they decided to sell him, and on footballing terms they wouldn't miss him much aside from his odd good game.
