There are lots of satellite services outside of DirecTV
and Dish Network. DFH is a Turkish service using a
Ku-band (30-36") dish and an MPEG2 receiver with an
access card, pointing to Telstar 5 (97 degree west,
4 degrees east of DirecTV's bird).

On the same bird, there are other services like
German, Croatian, Taiwanese, Iranian,
Portugese etc. Each service requires a
customized receiver.

I mean can I get it if I have DirecTV? If I understand you correctly getting these 'extras' has nothing to do with DTV and the DISH.

So if one spent the time and money what is the maximum amount of matches you could get? :)

Thanks

Please FSW, do the right thing!!

I used to have DISH (can't have sattelite where I live now though) a few years ago, and got TV5 when they started showing Le Championnat, and while I loved that, I thought most of the TV5 programming was nul. Just a bunch of shows with people sitting around a table talking (like much of French TV that isn't American sitcoms or 1970s Italian softcore porn) That said PLEASE FSW PICK UP LE CHAMPIONNAT!

You are totally right Shah, while not the highest quality in Europe definitetly the most interesting! It's so nice when a league has a different winner every year instead of the same two or three teams.

These services have ***ABSOLUTELY*** nothing to do with DirecTV. In a sense, they are DirecTV's competitors. If a Turkish immigrant has no option of getting programming in their mother tongue, he/she would be more inclined to subscribe to an American service and watch NBC, CNN, ESPN, A&E, HBO, etc. But since home country programming is available, NBC, CNN, etc are going to lose viewers, DirecTV is going to lose potential subscribers.

On the foreign services on Telstar5, some of them carry Liga from their home countries:

- DFH has had the Turkish league for a couple years (3 games per match day)
- SPT has just acquired the Portugese rights for the upcoming season (as announced by Oliver on soccertv). Don't know how many games on it yet.
- GermanTV may be broadcasting the Bundesliga, but I am not sure. They have a weekly highlight show.
- TV Romania International carries 2 games per week. It's on free preview right now but it will become a subscription service in a couple months.

There are lots of games outside of DirecTV/Dish Network in the sky, on C/Ku band satellite. DirecTV/Dish is just one of the bands used in the sky. For the paid ethnic services, check out
