Cheers Cannon, you do get some weird things happening though. Like I put in a bid for a striker in the Conference, finishing attribute of 19 or something ridiculous, had the bid accepted and then the bloke wouldn't sign when I offered to more than double his wages!

Loans for very decent strikers also work but I'd focus on kids from the Prem or Coke leauge since you'll have trouble getting older guys to join on loan. I've found that the kids from those clubs are usually a better bet than a more experienced striker from League one or two that you could also attract on loan.
Don't know how he is in 06, but in FM05 I had a game where I moved from an obscure semi-pro Belgian side to Bradford City, and I took Anthony Stokes from Arsenal. He was a monster, and I got him again when I moved to Bolton, who were in the championship. Eventually signed him permanently, and he fizzled when I was promoted to the Prem.

I think that your club's reputation is the most significant factor in deciding whether they'll join you. I think they have to pass that test before the game looks at wages. I've had plenty of situations where I'll offer a guy say 12k/week (after I've been promoted a few times obviously) and he'll go and sign elsewhere for less than 1k/week. Reputation is also too slow to change which makes it harder to attract players to clubs you've gotten promoted many times even if your club has now had great form for seasons. I faced that with a club that I got promoted from League two to the Prem and was now a regular CL team and Prem title contender and still lost players to low wage contracts with "big clubs" (like Newcastle) that hadn't been in the CL since the game started and were more likely to go down (and some that already had) than come close to my club.
Still can't complain to much about that because its already too easy to sign amazing players. A little bias against player-controlled clubs in the reputation area makes it a bit more interesting.

I finally got a kid from Chelsea's reserves who's scored seven times in seven games so far. After a slow start Walcott is starting to tear up the division and some kid I picked up for a grand on the left wing is man of the match nearly every game. Into the playoff spots half way through the season and we have a third round FA Cup tie against Arsenal coming up! I reckon we can take those Premiership fancy dans at Field Mill! :D

Lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the cup, no disgrace there. Up to fourth in the league, haven't lost a league match for ages. I think I'm going through an "addicted" phase with this game. :o

I'm clean, man. Three weeks today since I last played. Feeling kind of tempted, though. Time for a call to my sponsor.

Maybe its just me, but its impossible to prevent your players committing errors often in this game. 70% of our goals conceded come from huge defensive blunders that leave them 1 on 1 with the keeper, another 10% come from humdinger shots from 40yds + with my goal keeper in the goals.
The more the game frustrates you, the more you have to play.

It's funny -- we joke about being addicted, but I really do reach a point where I'm compelled to play and it actually feels unpleasant, but I have to do it. Once I force myself to leave it for a day or two the feeling goes away, and I'll often go weeks without playing. Often when I go back it's to start a new game.

Just won the Quad and Super Cup.
Liverpool is in UEFA as Astona Villa beat them for the 4th spot. Sp:rolleyes:rs made it to the UEFA cup.
Senderos is being a bit grumpy as I've brought in more defenders and he claims their is too much competion for first team places.
Also does anyone else have a player in the age range of 16-20 demanding "play me or lose me"?

Funnily enough Villa are always competing for 2-5, its erie. Spurs have gotten themselves relegated twice. I've had to sell Senderos as he refused to compete with my defence of toure, and someone I got from Monoco.

Won the mini-treble with Hibs in Scotland, and the World Cup with England. Scotland and Ireland actually qualified and made it to the semis and the final respectively.

You don't have any copies? If so, that is a bummer.
Since CM4, I've kept three saved games after seeing a fine game go down the drain with a crash.

i've got two versions, the old one doesn't include the most recent season. i got offered the England job, so i saved it before I accepted and then created a new game with both Arsenal and the England job. i can't load either one

Just started my first season in League One with newly promoted Mansfield with a solid away draw. Signed Lupoli on a three month loan, the kid sure knows where the net is in this game :D
