This (http://www.soccerpro.com/acatalog/Adidas_Ref_Jersey_Merc.html) and this (http://www.soccerpro.com/acatalog/Adidas_Ref_Jersey_Electricity.html) are supposedly, and I emphasise, supposedly - it hasn't been announced by FIFA or Adidas - the new kit to be launched for the WC. It also apparently comes in red.
Thoughts?

The "electricity" looks similar to the Italian kit except for the black trim. The refs won't be hard to spot in that one. Any word on shorts and socks, or are they considering going with the traditional style? How about electric pink. You won't see any teams wearing that.
Seriously, I think it will make the refs stand out too much.

These (http://www.soccerpro.com/acatalog/Adidas_Ref_Short_Merc.html) are apparently the shorts.

Still like the ones from France 98 the best. Glad they got rid of the ridiculous black patches at the armpits. The colors are garish.

I like them. I think they look very professional.
As a youth soccer ref, I would be more then happy to wear one of those then the ugly striped things they throw on us week in and week out.

Here are the latest pictures on the kits:

Red is a stupid colour for referees to wear. Luminous yellow immediately draws attention to the referee, and black with luminous yellow just do not go. If only the swirls were white - it would look so much better.

You must not remember the old black uniforms. Nothing like wearing solar collector in the middle of July.
