Hmmm, I used tiny url on those. So they were something like www.**************.com/xxx

Does that help? If not I can track down the originals and post them here but they probably won't be clickable directly.

Got em, thanks.

Marko--right click on the links, click "Copy link location", paste it in the address bar of your browser, then replace the starred out part with "tiny url" (no space).

Of course this begs the question of why tiny url links are autocensored. WTF??

[QUOTE=The Magpie]Is ahyone else flying into Frankfurt on Sunday the 11th? A bunch of New England-area U.S, supporters will be getting in between 10:00AM -
2:30PM, most likely meeting up between arrivals at an airport pub before we head off to Frankfurt (Main) Bahnhof to catch our train, and it would be nice to meet some other U.S. fans at the airport for a pint... or four :D

Let me know if you're flying into Frankfurt on the 11th, and maybe we can enjoy an impromptu party at an airport watering hole.

I don't recall this place, but according their contact info they are :

Terminal 1 / Halle B / 0 Ebene

Ebene = level, but I'm not sure if that's the ground floor or lowest floor in this case.

Here's what I could find:

In the following diagram, the Irish Bar is located just outside security, in the grey checkerboard-area below the letter "B":

I'll be getting in a 12:50PM on Sunday, June 11th (Icelandair), and this would be a good place to kill time as I wait for two other members of our group that get in about 2:30PM.

This is PRECISELY what I'm doing except my flight arrives at 9:30am on the 12th from Orlando (via Cincinnatti).

Are you at all concerned about making it in time? It looks like the train to Dusseldorf is a little less than 3 hours (give or take depending on the speed of the train you take) and then its less than a half hour to Gelsenkirchin. However, I'm concerned that with matchday traffic and German Customs (which I've never been through) we could get delayed and not make the match. I've got a first class rail pass and intend on making reservations WELL beforehand so I think I should be fine -- but I'm not certain and I wonder whether I should kick my tix back to the day before (only $75 but another day away from the wife and kiddos will not go over well). Anyone have any thoughts?

Edit: the game is at 18:00 (6pm) so that's about 8.5 hours from the time of my arrival in FRA.

German customs is very quick. Immigration control is the longer deal, but even then not so bad. Just like here, there are EU and non-EU lines. Sometimes the non-EU lines move very slow, so if there is space at the EU line then move over to it. This is usually fine, especially if you speak a few words of German.

I'd say that's plenty of time, although I think you'll be a bit groggy by game time. Keep an eye on your bags if you're sleepy*, sometimes there are light fingers and I'd expect more during the WC. And if you're running late maybe put your stuff in a train locker somewhere and gather it up after the game. Lockers are more prevalent/available in larger cities, though, if they still have them at all.

*Those first class seats on ICE trains are very comfy and the motion of the train... I'm just sayin'.

Are there any good flight deals into or out of Germany? I have been looking for flights from Houston and all seem to be $1,000+.

Flew round-trip non-stop to London over Christmas for only $460 versus $1,000+ to Germany... YIKES!!!!

Montpelier to Frankfurt Hahn (alt. airport). 80 minute flight, costs $130 total for 2 roundtrip tickets. Then rental car, and drive to Nuremberg to hopefully see a crucial game betweem the US and Ghana.

Personally, I hope we have it wrapped up by then with two monumental victories over the Czech Republic and Italy, thus precluding a second round matchup with Brazil. Bring on Australia!!! (or Croatia-- we could do that, too)

I'm on the United flight from Chicago arriving Frankfurt at 9:45 a.m. June 16. Any other soccer fanatics on that plane? Or the American flight 45 minutes later?
