SD Memory Cards for Digital Cameras

I just ordered a digital camera the other day, now I need to get some memory for it. My question is does it matter what kind of card I buy? Is there any difference between the various brands besides price? Should I get a "high speed" card as opposed to a regular card? Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I generally have gone with SanDisk because I haven't had a problem with them so far. But the various major brands should all be fine, i.e. the ones you'd find at Best Buy.

I've got two memory cards for my digicam...don't know the brand, but I do know one of them was bought at WalFart. Over the past couple of years I haven't had a problem.

A week ago, Best Buy was selling a 512 Mb SD card for $40 with a $10 mail-in rebate. I also managed to get a 10% discount off it.

I had a bad experience with Kingston few months ago. When I called Newegg customer support they said a lot of people are complaining about the brand and to return it for a refund. I went with a cheap PNY card (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=705383&CatId=1778) afterward and it's working well so far.

It can make a difference when shooting action in burst mode, as the information will write faster on to the card. If your new camera is a digital SLR, and you are interested in taking those type of pictures, a high speed card would be good to use.

IMHO, Lexar makes the best cards for digital cameras. SandDisk are a close second.
